He who stays on the park wins

Oliver tmac well placed

Agree with the above so far. Whoever is able to stay out on the field from now till the end of the season would be well positioned to claim the Bluey. Only Oliver, Hibberd (which is incredible given his injury at the start of the year) and TMac seem like the likely candidates at this stage. Watts and Jones probably wouldn't be far behind but may find it difficult to come back after their respective injury issues.

Also, let's not forget Neville Jetta. Could very well be a smokey for a top five finish.

Depends a lot on the voting system. For example, because of "player management" strategies, Geelong has deliberataly changed its voting regime so players are only eligible for votes in something like their best 16 games for the year.

If, however, we follow the Brownlow model of 3,2,1 per game I would say Oliver is currently leading from T McDonald and Hibberd. By the end of the year, though, I expect Oliver to tire, particularly with the extended absences of Jones and Viney so that he may well be overtaken.

interesting about the Geelong system.

I understand that in the Bluey, every player is eligible for votes each week.  i.e there aren't a maximum votes for the team, each player gets a rating (out of 7 I think) each game. I'd like clarification of anyone has it.

The voting system as of the 2016 AFL season, consists of four members of the match committee giving each player a ranking out of ten after each game. Players can receive a maximum of 40 votes for a game.

So far my top 5, but I think Hibbo will win it by seasons end

1. Oliver

2. Hibberd

3. Tmac

4. Jetta

5. Garlett

Watts would be right up there till he got injured and Viney and Jones also will be in Top 10

Hibberd is probably winning at this stage. He's been All Australian form from his first game back!

Clarry second, Tmac third. Be close for a few after that with guys like Hunt, Petracca, Jetta, Garlett all playing well most of the year.

The early games missed might cost Hibberd - no doubt he'll be in the top couple though. He set a standard from his first minute on the ground and hasn't gone below it.

By seasons end, all our best players will have missed a sizeable chunk of the season. I agree that there's a chance it'll be Clarry or TMac by virtue of being good consistently and playing most games - assuming neither of them fall over between now and then.

Definitely one of the more intriguing years. There's a lot of possibilities and the voting always tends to toss up a surprise or two.
