JLT Round 4 Team Changes

Based on the assumption that Jetta, Garlett and Kent won't be fit to play until round 1 at the earliest.

OUT: Harmes, Kennedy-Harris, Spencer and Johnstone.

IN: Tyson, Watts, Frost and Trengove.

I think you will find the bench goes back to normal length next game.

I say put in the A team.

I did.....minus giving Trengove a run.

I would also like to see Lewis kicking in after behinds majority of the time.
It was suprising post match last week he mentioned he hasn't before.

and Vince on a forward flank..............never again in the backline.

Agreed, wing or half forward only, also our disposal generally down back is a worry, early days but same disposal problems as previous seasons, and Melksham does not help.

I wasn't previously a fan of Melksham but after he blew the cobwebs out with a game and a half I thought he was pretty solid.
Expecting the same from Hibberd although I held him in higher regards than Melksham.

Pedersen ?

VDB has failed to make an impact in both games apart from some junktime goals in the last qtr. Surely has to come out. Liability with his foot skills

Good point although I would have put him in the "won't be fit to play until round 1".

I based it on ranking the team on the first 2 games in my opinion and dropping the bottom 4.
VDB probably scraped in on pressure at the football and "junktime goals" which are pretty valuable when you need goals to win a season.

Your last sentence, my thoughts exactly.

VDB out. Watts in.

Would like to see Dom and Nev get a game too, if fit. Not sure who's spot they take. Maybe JKH, Johnno or Smith

Assuming no injuries from today.

We don't play Meth Coast for a fortnight, which is a further indication that we will take a strong side over there.  Watts, Kent, Jetta and Tyson sound as though they'll be fit and ready to go and you would expect all 4 to get back into the side.  Who makes way?  Players like Harmes, ANB, Johnstone, Bugg etc would all be ones looking over their shoulder, but none of them have necessarily done anything wrong.  Tough decisions will be made, but it's great that we have to make them.

I loved Spencer's game, we should persist with two ruckmen.

9 H/O - 1 Kick - 0 Marks? I know stats aren't everything and I only watched the last third of the game. But what was it that impressed?

That he allowed Gawn to go and rest in the forward line for long periods.

It's ok for JLT but wont be worth the bench spot for season games.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
