I tried ringing up betting outlets to get onto Trump not lasting his 100 days but no go.

Abbott punches walls trying to punch something?

It will take Religion longer than the Dark Ages to get over its collective absence of strong stance on Abuse and Freedom.

If i lived in Israel i would be absolutely sh###ing myself on Trump/Netanyahu policy and ramifications.

They can go inside until the smoke clears.

Israel has nothing to fear until it starts random bombing in western countries .

Which they aren't stupid enough to allow.

Hi ProDee

Thanks for your well thought through, forensic analysis of the deficiencies of the left leaning political classes. On my first reading I believe you have made some assertions that can be challenged but at this stage let me take your post on notice so I can investigate this in further detail.

I will get back to you once I have reviewed all the historical data.

Yours in good faith

I only wish both my parents were alive to corroborate that... they must have been the exceptions that proved the rule I suppose.

DC, I think you'll find that at that time there was no conclusive evidence, and there was certainly no major anti-smoking campaign. In fact, from memory even as recently as the late 70's (when I quit for reasons of cost), there was no solid link established between smoking and cancer.

It's interesting (and writing as an ex-smoker) that the many many chemical additives placed in post-WW2 cigarettes (to keep them smouldering among other nefarious purposes) may be as harmful as the tobacco itself (I'm guessing).

Pipe smoking is a now extinct form of self damage and was associated with increased levels of tongue, throat and vocal cord , but interestingly not lung , cancer and the postulated reason is the lower temperature at which the product is burned.

What I'm saying is that it might not be only the climate that has changed over the many years.

beg to differ, ht, i lived through that period and was well aware of the risks. sure there weren't anti-smoking campaigns like now and there was plenty of obfuscation from the tobacco industry but the evidence (actual or anecdotal) was there and widely discussed. Since the overuse of tobacco during the war (where it was supplied free to troops) there was much discussion on health effects. I remember it from as young as a 12 year old. No doubt usage was widespread and "largely" socially accepted but we all knew it was risky and most chose to ignore it. I don't buy the "we were ignorant" argument. people chose to believe the ill effects only happened to other people and the risks were acceptable. everyone especially when young (when you get addicted) think they are indestructible.

What, do we have to give a comprehensive catalog of the ills of the world - specifically the ills caused by Muslims - to qualify to be a critic of a man who is an obvious bigot, uneducated, sexist, xenophobic imbecile?

You sound like the Danbys and Austentatious fringe lunatics of the world, who, for example, won't allow you to criticize the actions of Israel until you also criticize the actions of every other crackpot nation state. An analogy would be a bank robber who is caught red handed telling the cops to go away and catch all the other bank robbers because to pick on him is discriminatory.

"Comprehensive catalogue" ?

Let's cut the crap.

The Left never utter a single word against issues that don't suit their agenda.  Ever.

So it's not a matter of picking or choosing, or not necessarily commenting on every single issue or public utterance, the Left never ever break rank against their various agendas.

Or, let's flip it around. Why do right wingers need to jump down the throat of any minor Muslim leader when they say something abhorrent, but not when Trump makes patently false and dangerous statements? By your logic ProDee, any time you fail to condemn anything Trump says that doesn't align with your world view it makes you a hypocrite. It's ridiculous logic.

The Left get excited by a bit of Trump rhetoric, but I don't.  And I don't have an issue with his policies.

He wants to secure America's borders.  Tick

Increase manufacturing.  Tick

Scrutanise arrivals from the most benighted Islamic countries on the planet.  Tick

He calls out the Left agenda driven media.  Tick

He recognises the clinate change hoax for what it is.  NOAA and Nasa have been manipulating graphs for years.  The money wasted on this deceit is a blight on humanity.  The planet is not warming dangerously.

He wants to make health care more affordable for the working class.

You're a leftist that struggles to not come to blows with those with whom you disagree, so I hope you manage to read this post without too many heart palpitations.  Or not.

Btw, you're welcome to write an essay on the Trump policies that make you cry.  I may or may not respond.

You're a dope, bloke.

Since when is female subjugation, stoning, oppression, honour killings, gays thrown from buildings, and sharia, which abbhors freedom and man-made laws, an "agenda" ?  These are issues conservatives, and any human being with an ounce of compassion and intelligence, rail against, while you, the left, completely ignore these niceties, because it doesn't suit your brainless narrative.

The Trump administration has made the unprecedented move of blocking numerous news outlets from attending the press briefings ... including the BBC,  LA Times,  NY Times,  CNN,  Politico,  Buzzfeed & The Guardian.  Other news outlets including Time Magazine & the Associated Press have decided to boycott the press briefings in support.

All too predictable though as Trump is about as thin-skinned as thin-skinned can get.  His Republican support will lessen as a result and in turn, his ability to govern properly will be diminished.  He should just suck it up as previous Presidents have but not this bloke.

Meanwhile, his right-wing support will be thinking up some elaborate way of explaining this action ... the move possibly goes against the first amendment too.

White House blocks news organizations from press briefing

lol.

By his own Press Secretary's definition, it makes Trump a dictator:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/sean-spicer-once-said-only-dictatorships-would-ban-media-access-a7598831.html

When Politico’s Jake Sherman asked Mr Spicer if the new administration would limit press access, he responded by saying the media is what “makes a democracy a democracy versus a dictatorship.”

Sorry, should not have lol'd. It's not funny any more. You just can't make this stuff up. Or, I suppose you can, but you'd think it was fiction.

I know it's been said before but this is real 1984-type stuff. Exclude the media, become the source of information, assert false facts as true and true ones as false.

I'll bet 300 million people's lives, and that is just in US.

The reason i do that bet, is to alert the betting agencies to, that people think he's a crazy "b", like Nixon, who should be gotten rid of, as everyone knows.

I still have my Betting Acc but i only bet on footy. I stopped betting on everything else, when my beautiful German shepherd died, as a tribute to him, and self denial to me...

No ProDee called you out. The inversion doesn't work because centre right is free thinking.

I think there are free thinkers and followers on both sides Wrecker.

None of us has exclusivity on the rational nor the idiotic.

It's hard to find some decent links but apparently the Obama administration attempted to ban/boycott Fox news in 2009 but the left-leaning news outlets bandied together to put a stop to it.  Let's hope the same thing happens this time although the solidarity might need to be led by Fox news.

Various administrations or perhaps all of them have all had their issues with the press with the most notable one being the Nixon administration ... first it was the press (partly because of their reporting of the Vietnam war) ... this eventually led to the break-in at the Democratic HQ'S and then the cover-up.

Speaking of which, for those who have seen 'All the President's Men',  here's a documentary of sorts which features Robert Redford,  Bob Woodward & Carl Bernstein (the close-ups of the participants kicks in about 5 minutes in)  It's quite an apt link when considering another big issue at the moment - the possible links between the Trump administration & the Russians.
