It's about his journey from the slums of Rio to winning an AFL Grand Final, sounds like a story worth telling to me.

That's beside the point.  He was paid a lot of money to focus on his AFL full time job.

I don't get the angst aimed at HL......he is a different cat.....So What?   There are so many robots already in the AFL.   Any one a bit different is treated like they are insane. and are scorned and belittled.

He has now gone.........Lets move on.

Steady Stuie, even though it has been reported on all media outlets including the club website, the concussion is not real

Saty this is where it gets silly.  I don't think anyone is saying that concussion doesn't play some role.  Many, like me, think it's a small part of the story but it is being used publicly to hide other issues.

Or it may be no one's fault since we can assume the club was well aware of the alternative of keeping him on the list as a LTI and decided that on balance what they did was the best thing to do. As usual, and not unreasonably, we are not privy to the details.

I would have thought at the least I would have got a call from Josh and PJ explaining it all to me.

What has that got to do with anything? There are 0 players in the AFL who spend all their time "focusing" on footy.

It is stated "he has retired on medical advice", it is only getting silly because some posters on here have now managed to get the 'mob' howling behind them, you believe there are other issues, I don't, no excuse for some of the disgusting vitriol being posted here

It is a public forum, the above is standard behaviour, why the need for anonymity, as some would never 'dare' do it face to face

Interestingly, it is the second year in a row, where the AFL has denied us the right to upgrade a Rookie, despite having a spot available to do so.

While the Bombers uplifted players to replace suspended ones, we were not allowed to replace Melksham, who was also suspended.

If Melksham had remained a Bomber, they would have been able to replace him.

As a bonus, they were given the first pick in the draft.

grieving for Mohamed Ali.. Give me a break.

I miss my mate Paul Hester, but i didn't take 6 months holiday in his honour...

Well you should have, as Paul was a much better drummer than Ali and Ali didn't live in a crowded house.

I've been bleating about this to my mates recently, i can't see why us (and bulldogs and saints) weren't afforded the same opportunitys last year as the drug cheats, we were the inoccent parties after all, not them!

I believe the  club was caught between a rock and a hard place with this one.

1 I reckon they took the risk of paying him out hoping that the AFL would consider the case unique enough to grant a rookie upgrade

2 Clearly the club needed to move him at all costs given his very strange rationales at play regarding playing and or not

3 It has backfired but not irreperably Heritier didn't offer all that much in the time he was here and Colingwood probably knew that from a management piont of view he was hard work. I agree between Dawes and Heritier we really didn't get value fpr money, although in Chris Dawes case his body let him down, but at least he tried and did the right thing by the club.

Time to cut loses and move on!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
