Oh and if you get a chance GtB let us know your best bet for the weekend.  But only if you've got the time of course.

We're now working on picking the eyes out of all the tips as we (as individuals) see fit.

Plus,  a small outlay on a massive paying super-multi.  We're allowed to dream because after all,  we're all Demons here!

Otherwise,  good luck on the punt!

Probably haven't had a bet for 10 years Macca. Only do the form on odd occasions e.g. one of my daughters went to Derby Day a couple of years ago. If she'd followed instructions properly she'd have had a big day but she failed to make the distinction between straight out and each way. I think I got 4 up for the day so she came home with a decent profit & the basis of a thumping hangover.

Still love my horses though & still follow them. Can happily watch horse racing from anywhere & enjoy it. Channel 78 gets a decent run at my joint. Used to love a punt and had shares in a few horses back in the pre-kids days. After that my disposable income was disposed of before I got it !

No, i always put on the full combination of picks.....then just do a few others. There were plenty of combos i didnt get!

I do too (the full combo) but was just noting that we shouldn't necessarily post up here (beforehand) what our preferences are within the full combination.   And I'm not saying that anyone would but we don't want to be dismissing picks we don't prefer (before any of the races are run)

I like the idea of any number of contributors to the thread and if that means we end up with any number of best bets then we can use any of the picks to our advantage (as individuals)

Similarly I don't like the 'lay of the day' posts.  At all.  You end up with a mish-mash of negatives if everyone was to do it.  And it effectively rains on people's parades as well.

I've got a mate who is similar.  Doesn't bet but follows the horses closely and knows about all the breeding and the history of winners.

His knowledge is immense so I still like to get his tips as he's often right on the mark.

Anyone like anything in the Bendigo Cup tomorrow ?

The international $5 favorite Raheen House has beaten the great Enable which is a feather in it's cap (although was April 2017). Ran 9th in the Ebor at York in August around the likes of Prince of Artan, True Self & Red Galileo who all ran reasonably well in the Geelong Cup last week.

I will be having a trifecta on the Bendigo Cup and it is a good betting race all round (especially for trifecta punters)

I like Raheen House as well JV and it does seem a good each-way chance at $6.50.  'Captain Cook' & 'Angel of Truth' can get into the finish as well.  But it's a wide-open betting affair.  Angel of Truth has been racing in some very good Group races recently so that horse's form line reads better when that is taken into account.

Wed 30th Oct Bendigo Cup 2400m $400k

Ah i see. Well i only posted after the event, because i would have too many to post them beforehand. I also dont like lays, not really into that style of betting.

My point was a broad one Wadda ... not ever directed at you.  I just happened to be quoting you.

With the 6+ best bets I might pinpoint 3 but I might prefer to have a few doubles.  The right combo in a double (using best bets) can deliver up to 12-1 odds.   And that's a good collect if it gets up (as we found out on Monday morning re MB!)

What do you like in the Bendigo Cup?

Yeah I've included the Pike mount (Top of the Range)  Hang Man is a real show.

A Melbourne Cup berth might come the way of the Bendigo Cup winner.  Depending on if a weight penalty applies.  Those in line include Raheen House,  Sully,  Patrick Erin & Brimham Rocks.

It will be a keenly contested race you'd imagine.

With others on here. Leaning towards Raheen House for Bendigo Cup in a tricky race. Host of other chances like stated above. Hang Man can produce a devastating finish and represents good odds. Can’t totally discount the Hayes/Dabernig team with their two runners at double figures.

I’ll probably focus on a few exotics.

Yep ... Pike does it.  Fabulous ride too.

In the end I had 'Top of the Range' on top as its form read very well.

Went for the exacta in the end but a couple of times instead of a percentage of.  Nice-ish dividend but the Tri & F4 paid well (if anyone got them)

A terrific heads up on your part Wadda.  I might just include that pick towards our weekend strike rate

Derby Day 2 years ago was when we kick-started this thread again and a lot has gone on in between.

But here we are again with a fabulous day of racing ahead of us including a few big races out of Rosehill.  Here are all the main features with all of them being good betting races.  Good luck punters!

In other breaking news ... Marmelo one of 2 Internationals pulled from Melbourne Cup

My best is Flemington race 7 no 1 shadow hero.

I expect thought of that will roll along out front and try and grab a break. But will struggle to get the distance. Shadow Hero will camp mid field and storm over the top and win by 3-4 lengths. Soul patch to get into second and I have a feeling thought of that will fade and not run a place.

Well overs at 3.10.

I can supply the snorkels Wadda, just not sure which horse we can put them on.

Bugger, jockeys already commenting after the first the track is very soft. Soft 6 already.

Look like it might favor horses on speed. Which is frustrating as for once i didn't put a weighting on on speed horses as i thought with the track chopping up it might suit horse coming wide and from behind. Which it still might but i don't think yuo want to be too far back, like Flit was. Was going to back Miami Bound but ended up going longer on Silent Sovereign (influenced by Mick Sharkie), who was too far back. Frustrating

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
