Daisy Pearce Wins B&F

I have not seen anything about this on Demonland, but if there is apologies.

Daisy is a credit to herself, the women' VFL and the MFC.  Great effort and what a wonderful ambassador she is.

Well done Daisy.

She's a star. We're lucky to have her at the club.

Are we favourites to take out the first women's flag?

If it were 2 on 2, probably. Will depend on how we recruit.

I hope Daisy gets the recognition she deserves in years to come. Has been an absolutly dominant player in a period when women's football has only started taking off.

After watching the Dees v Bulldogs match, I'd give the favourites tag to Collingwood, followed by the bulldogs.

Hope is going to be very, very hard to stop, and as good as Daisy is, Blackburn and Ashmore demonstrated that night that they are at her level. Doggies have Blackburn and Brennan, they will also be tough to stop.

Our other maquee signing, Hickey, did not fill me with confidence.

The results of the first few season of the Women's AFL are going to be set pretty much entirely by the level of training effort and coaching resources put in.

Commit. Get results. Kind of the way sport ought to be?

On that count, having Daisy Pearce is priceless.

Just heard her on SEN. That is her 7th league best and fairest award.

In 8 years! Won 3 in a row, missed one, then the last 4. I wonder if she was injured in 2012?

She's absolutely brilliant, a great ambassador for the sport and for the womens league.

Wishful thinking maybe but it would be great if she managed to get a few women to follow Melbourne (both male and female) given her popularity and notoriety .

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
