Grimes and Trengove future rests with Goodwin

Good move to give him a one year contract. It gives him a chance to cement himself and if it doesn't happen he's not taking up a space on the list for a number of years like a Garland or Terlich type is at the moment.

Trengove is a good player with a great football brain. Thought he was stiff to be dropped as statistically he was comfortably in our best 22 players and unarguably better than a good chunk who kept getting fed a game at the time. Hopefully he can make it back to what we all hoped he would become.

Great news! Smart decision to give him an opportunity to show his worth next year after a full preseason.

A lot of people mentioned Grimes and the death by a thousand cuts year he has had. But no one can say he wasn't given every chance.

Same will now apply to Trenners.

Good news for him, but he's batting from so far back it's hard to know if the future is anywhere other than Casey. I'd suggest he be groomed into a forward just to maximise his value to the team

Getting a one year contract suggests that Goodwin has a role for him in mind, and one he believes he has the potential to do in the senior side.  That could very well be as a forward pocket with stints in the middle, but whatever it is, he will be given every chance next year.  Smart move by the club.

This.

May be a sub for a mid who goes down at some stage but surely the primary role earmarked by Goodwin will be the hard tackling, close to goal, scrapping forward who makes smart decisions and converts well at up to 40 metres

Just watched Roos presser and he said that Grimes and Trengove had a significant impact on the club and its ability to improve, two of the best quality people he has met in Footy.

Roos is all class as are Grimes and Trengove. As I said above I am delighted with the Trenners decision and if Grimes doesn't stay he will have my respect and admiration. I hope the club handles the situation in the best way possible.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
