Exactly. Roos has stated that Trengove himself will tell the selection panel when he feels he is ready.

It is not about talent to play in the firsts - it is about fitness and endurance - so those saying it is mistake not playing him this week  - I disagree and  I disagree with those who suggest he needs to wait 8 or 10 weeks. He will be ready when he is ready and only Trengove and the fitness staff will know when that is.

How many other players get given chances? Senior player or not, he's played plenty of strong footy. Certainly more than some other KP defenders. And I just think one bad week is wearable. We need him.

The smaller runners did their jobs tonight and even though their talls kicked a few we never looked in danger I thought. We looked faster and more fleet footed without Dunn and Frost....Garland didn't really impress me particularly after the 1st qtr blunder, He was just Ok after that but still worries me with his decision making...

Yeah. I imagine he'll stay in though. We know Roos doesn't like to mess with a winning team. Then again, after that, who could blame him.

I must have missed that switching between the two games. I missed that he was injured. Assumed he'd be playing next week.

Definitely lost it at selection (oli). Two Meter Peter gave us an absolute bath as tall forwards always do (Clint). Gold Coast absolute bounced back - words were indeed marked (praha).

Collectively, Demonland friends, we know bugger all. Just remember that!

The big fell barely got near it.  Thought Garland, and to an extend McDonald on Lynch, did a pretty good job on their tall forwards last night.

Wright is hopeless. I was amazed by the worry about him during the week. It's not to say he'll never be any good as we all know how dangerous it is to write off tall forwards on early form, but last night he played at about the level I thought he is at.

When Gold Coast were in the game, despite being down in all the key stats, McDonald affected two or three spoils, but was comfortably beaten by Lynch. Let's not wallpaper this again. In the end, Lynch was just starved of supply.

But pleasingly there weren't any major Tommy Mac brainfades last night that I can recall. Obvioisly, we look a lot more solid when he restricts his errors. The only error I can recall is the dropped mark that resulted in Lynch's 4th just before half time. If he keeps things simple we are a better football side. Fingers crossed he's learnt from the St Kilda game.

Clearly the game was won in the midfield thanks mainly to our dominance through that area but also contributed by serious injuries to two players that killed their roatations as well as injuries to key mids Prestia and Miller. You guys must have missed those...

They 'barely got near it' because there was very little supply. And as AdamFarr rightly outlines below, (even before injuries struck the Gold Coast), they were incredibly efficient once the ball got inside their 50 on the few times it did early in the game... Which again points to dodgy defence.

Lynch and Wright barely got a look in after half time and that was hardly Tom McDonald or Colin Garland's doing.

Agreed, although Lynch's dominance in the first half was off the back of a lack of Melbourne midfield pressure. We allowed their players to run off half back and deliver too easily to Lynch and co. So certainly not all Tom's fault.

That contributed to some opportunities.

Poor defending, spoiling, positioning and decision making contributed to others.

Agreed, but you'll get that in most sides if the opposition's ball movement is slick. Certainly work to be done though.
