Steve Febey opens up

Harrowing story, and far more than anyone should have to endure.  Great that Febes is getting his life back together.

Is it just me or does it seem like Mike Sheehan attends a lot of ex-player parties? Is Mike Sheehan a well known socialite? :P

Mike hasn't opened up about his personal issues but I loved Jacko calling him out about "walking around Melbourne in your drunken Stupor in the Eighties".

The Herald had some serious drunks writing the copy .

I attended a massive party when Piers Ackerman got sacked that was brilliant and debauched.

Piers actually referred to the sports writers as "the Drunk [censored] in  Sport".

I wouldn't say Robbo is so unprofessional as to have been drinking while on 360, but i can definitely see the long term effects it has on his speed of recall and the split second it takes to put the right words to his thoughts

Not to downplay Febey's struggle, but fair dinkum....
We got to talk about footy for the last two bloody minutes of the show. This from a bloke who played in 250 games and 2 grand finals. The rest of it was Mike Sheehan's pop psychology clinic where he gets to 'tut tut' people for 27 minutes.
I thought he was treated very shabbily by Jacko last week. However, episodes of Open Mike like this and the Mark Eustice one are tragedy porn: pure and simple.

I was disappointed they didn't talk more about footy, afterall he played through two of our most successful eras in modern times.  Would have been interesting to hear his thoughts on the 2000 GF, Captaincy under Lyon/Neitz, what the coaches were like.

I guess most of that is now on the cutting room floor. Still - I thought it was a good interview.

Agreed thought the personal issues could've taken 5 minutes and the other 25 moved on to footy. Similar to the Grinter one where he tried to dwell so much on the Wallace incident. Sheahan is great at finger-wagging, that's why I didn't feel too sorry for him last week.

Sheehan was never a great Journo. But a genius compared to  what we have now in Slobbo

his interview questions are the same.. He never goes broad enough. He picks one topic to death. Happens almost weekly

Shame. They could be so much better

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
