Temporary solution to the quoting issue

A lot of people have been having issues with the quote feature, where it remembers a previous quote and you can't get rid of it in your next post. I think Andy said this isn't a bug, but a feature that allows you to come back to an unfinished post and complete it later.

Unfortunately it has the effect of leaving quotes in when you don't want them.

There's an easy way to 'clear' the history of a post before you start a new one to avoid it.

Before you start a new post, if there's a legacy quote in there you don't want, click the 'source' button in the post editing tools. Highlight everything in there and delete it. This will delete all the legacy code from your previously saved post, letting you start fresh.

you can get rid of it

above the quote you will see a small box with arrows. drag this anywhere into the quote (it won't move just the cursor moves), press delete......bingo gone

however, it is more than just the "feature". sometimes it is broke. yesterday i quoted in a thread, and my reply got posted correctly. later i the same thread i went to post without a quote and my previous quote was still there. i double checked to see that it had posted previously and yep it had. this is intermittent

I don't see the arrows, even when hovering. I have to use the source button to remove :(

it is a square box with a cross in it just above the top left hand corner of the quote, the ends of the cross are tiny arrow heads. you only see it if your cursor is in the quote

i use a pc not a mobile. maybe it doesn't show on a mobile?

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
