It seems that every player on the list can be out of form, or injured, or tired.....if it's JW, he's soft, won't put in, doesn't apply himself....

Whatever.

OK...the Elephant in the room rises and trumpets " how many players have self dropped BECAUSE they felt the 1sts wasnt for them that week ?"

What's that about then ?

It was so refreshing to hear Hogan said his number 1 goal is not to get dropped. You can tell he has that fierce determination and hard attitude to succeed.

Compare that to Watts who dropped himself......

Jack is Jack and i wish him well personally, but at Melb my ONLY consideration is the plus or minus he (or anyone ) us to the team.

i have concerns.I think he may also

Roos applauded him for doing so. Roos selected him the next week and played perhaps the best block of games in his career. But I guess you know best

I reckon that is plain silly. A first year player is likely to say what Hogan said. We don't know the exact details of Watt's asking to be dropped, but it is equally plausible to consider his actions as showing leadership and putting the team first. Maybe more than equally.

Hogan is NOT a 1st year player. Hes had to overcome a bit just to get going.

He seems pretty together.

That's being pedantic. The point is that it was the first year he was playing FCS.

Lol.. Because we all know Roos is honest in front of the screen.

Plays a straighter bat as you could ever see.

Such a ridiculous statement.

Its so far from the truth that even your not that stupid to believe that.

point of order

Not 1st year with AFL

He is totally aware of expectations. Would have been 2nd year but fir injury.

His mental strength is everything this discussion is about.

Agreed..1st full year playing.. well fmd.. wins rising star

Watts ?

Hey BB, didn't see you replied to me. You well?

We'll never know the reason why he dropped himself.....mental exhaustion? I still think he's in the best 22.

If he had a problem with it he would have left him in the twos. He didn't. Go figure.

Watts ?

If your Aunt had balls...

He's a first year player. Which bit of the definition don't you get? He has never played in the AFL before this year.

Feel free to lay into Watts, but to try to shoe-horn Hogan's statement vs Watt's self-dropping into support of your view of Watts is over the top.

And yes, a player who has never actually played a real AFL game may well say what Hogan said - he may know what is 'expected' but until you do it yourself it may be self-protective to have a modest aim.

I'm more surprised that some haven't said that with Hogan's general swagger and on-field attitude, he couldn't have really meant it - false modesty.

so being best 22 in a shyte team means you can't be traded

so who does that leave as being tradeable

Who said anything about best 22 meaning he can't be traded. Pretty hard to trade a player outside our best 22. Hey gws what can we get for McKenzie?

What part? Best 22? I think he is.

whicj Jack Watts?

The one that wants to play...or the one that cops out ?
