Expecting Neal-Bullen, Michie, Riley, Bail to come out of that Casey team, and probably Spencer also as the carry over player.

Expecting big games from Kennedy-Harris, Harmes & King this week!

Quite bizarre that Casey development play Coburg two weeks in a row..!

The VFL fixture is all over the shop every year but.

So the Dees have selected just Gawn as ruck (possibly with Spencer on the bench), while Scorps have named Spencer, Jamar, Fitz & King in the same team!

Go figure.

After all this time of having a 7 man bench named for MFC Sunday games and then having all 7 bench players named at Casey, and people still haven't worked it out????

Correct - it happens on most weeks when a 7 man bench is announced.

When Casey is playing at least a day after Melbourne it's a little different and of course they don't have to hold players over for the AFL games. That's not happening very often this year so the Scorpions can be at a slight disadvantage in their games.

Have the Scorps played a game this year the day after Melbourne yet?

Seems one player is missing out on playing every week!

But what?

I might head over there tomorrow as it's only 10 minutes away from me, although it depends what the weather is like.

Eureka Stadium is freezing at the best of times, and the forecast for tomorrow isn't good.

Not great for development, is it.

But frankly having the VFL as the 'feeder' competition when they have an uneven number of teams, therefore byes, just sucks too. There are times when returning and fringe players may not get a game in two weeks.

Both Casey Scorpions teams head north today but they're going to different venues a fair distance apart.

The ones travel to North Ballarat which is seemingly one of the coldest parts of the world to visit at this time of year and I certainly don't regret that I can't make it there today due to a commitment on this side of town. Relying on reports from others during the afternoon which I will relay whenever possible and I have a contact who has promised to provide material for a report on the game.

The game should be a test for the club's recruiting programme since Justin Plapp's appointment because the MFC's ever- expanding injury list will leave the Scorps with no more than 10 Demons including 3 rookies compared with earlier in the year when about 15 played in the senior team and there were a couple in the development league team.

The game against lowly North Ballarat (who are partially aligned with North Melbourne) would normally be eminently winnable and today, we need the Casey boys to step up to the plate and support the likes of the Russian and last week's goal kicking star Max King.

Eureka Stadium has always been a difficult assignment, particularly so during the Roosters' recent golden era. Thankfully, they don't have a development league team because there have been times when the temperature was around freezing point at the start of their games.

By a strange quirk of the fixture the development boys kick off shortly at Piranha Park or Coburg City Oval against the team that beat them last week at Casey. The Scorps got off to a slow start (their first goal came after half time) and this week they don't have any MFC players to help them out. JKH who played last week on return from injury is going to Ballarat while the unlucky Jayden Hunt is injured again after playing his best game since embarking on his comeback. The game kicks off in ½ hour's time.

Casey's development team got first blood with an early goal but the Lions are on top having scored the next three and lead 3.2.20 to 1.0.6 halfway through the first term.

I don't want to confuse anyone but JKH just kicked Casey's first at North Ballarat.

If he can play well and stay fit JKH would certainly be a handy addition to the side after the bye.

Just got his 2nd

Dont know why it hasnt been posted...but casey went down by 20 points.

Decent loss ... Melbourne aren't the only ones bearing the consequence of all our injuries/outs.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
