Good luck with the 'think before typing' advice, Goag. Standard management for dislocated patella is to allow soft tissue recovery after the first one, build the strength back up, strap to protect the patella as best as possible, then send them back out there to see what happens. ANB has now re dislocated by all reports, so he'll have patella stabilisation surgery, of which there are a few methods, depending on any biomechanical predispositions he has. He'll be a few months gone whichever way it goes, so expect him back mid seasonish.

I wanted to click "Like This" but somehow it seems like I'd be saying I like Neal-Bullen having this injury. So instead, I'll thank Webber for the info.

On the basis that most 1st year players probably wouldn't get much if any game time in their first year, Neal-Bullen's absence for most of 2015 is unlikely to be noticed. Nevertheless, I hope he recovers well and as quickly as possible.

Dislocated knee or dislocated patella? Massive difference, hope it was the patella. Think that's what he injured last time wasn't it. No where near as serious

With out any medical background it seemed to me to a dislocated kneecap.

After a while he walked/limped to the golf cart to be taken back to the rooms

I watched most of the session and I have to say it was pretty underwhelming. We looked a lot like a side that finished 17th. I realise it was wet and that they were coming off a flogging in QLD but still - I hate excuses like that. I don't want to be discussing excuses like that after we lose games in 2015. In particular most of the shots on goal in that full-length drill were pathetic. They were having shots 30 out, in front, under no pressure and most of them were missing. I could kick those and I'm rubbish. If that session indicates the year to come it is going to be more spilled marks and fumbled disposals as we tear our hair out I'm afraid. Hopefully they look better tomorrow.

Does this back up my assessment from watching the three minute training video?

So we cannot be optimistic about the year ahead because we train well, but if we train badly then it means more hair pulling like previous years?

correct. just keep your powder dry and your expectations in check until we see a few games. hair pulling in the interim is optional for masochists

There is no fun in that, what will i have to whinge and moan about after my expectations are crushed???

Gee daisy, suck all the life out of it why don't you.

I believe pre the first ball being bounced in earnest is exactly the right time to get wildly excited.

Not really. 90 minutes is 30 times longer than 3 minutes - and I didn't say we have no good players apart from Jones, as was your silly statement

oh and I've been to several other sessions in late '14

Speaking as somebody who has attended every session, yes Monday skill wise was a bit ordinary, it was meant to be a light session, most of the players with really good skills displayed them, some coming in from Rehab didn't, I am optimistic about this coming season, don't think we will be world beaters but Roos/Misson are getting the team to somewhere near where they would like them to be, listen to Roos every time he speaks, he is pleased where the team is at, but even he is not sure whether the mental scars are finally healed

The input of new guys will obviously help, Frost is a monster who could be anything, raw but wonderfully athletic, Newton, solid soldier, Lumumba and Garlett X factor in abundance, Garlett is determined to repay the faith Roos showed in him, he told me, Vandenberg is already looking a good rookie pickup, his shoulder is fixed and then we have the new kids and JKH, Hunt, Hogan, Salem, Toumpas, King, Harmes all with a full pre season under their belts...so why not be at least a little bit optimistic

We have only Trengove and unfortunately it looks like Neal Bullen under an injury cloud which is great,

ANB happened right in front of myself and lady, he bounced off the bag that Miller was holding went to turn, screamed in pain and went down in a heap, the medicos popped it back in. Spoke to him during and after original injury, everything said it had healed properly and he was allowed to return to full training, obviously they will have to have a rethink...I think the original was patella, but not sure, only ever told 'knee'

you can do what you like - I'm just telling you what I saw. There are many valued contributors on this site who submit their assessment of training sessions, and some of them write very nice things which make us feel very happy - this is not my particular agenda

Those two lines cover it for me Saty, you have my vote.

My tongue was in my cheek then, but also I never said we "have no good players apart from Jones".

I have invested far less in watching them this pre-season than you have, my friend, hopefully your outlook is more accurate than the feeling I had walking away from Gosch's yesterday. Will see what happens tomorrow!

Spoke to him during and after original injury

So while he was rolling around on the ground screaming in pain you were asking him about his injury?

Might have to reassess my opinion of you Saty.

:o Haha must read what I wrote a bit better, meaning when he did original before Xmas and was on crutches and session after Xmas when he was in rehab

My lady got a bit distressed to see him in obvious pain, both physically and mentally, yesterday, cheered her up by getting a photo with HL

Serious subject and I certainly feel bad for ANB being re-injured but I did laugh out loud reading this.

It was a very vivid mental image.

I would probably have the same issue with spelling the name correctly, it is an age thing, couldn't even remember the name of the MFC tech guy the other day, shame it is Peter, same as mine....anyway onto tomorrow and more fanboying

Part of the aging process Saty.

Look forward to your thoughts tomorrow.

First mistake I've had all day is reading one of your comments.

I Only got half way before I wanted to shoot myself.
