Bulldogs want pick 2 or 3

Featured Replies

Geez, of the ten Victorian clubs:

Geelong... on the decline, losing Christensen and Varcoe

Bulldogs... a complete mess

Essendon... speaks for itself

Colonwood... player exodus, unlikeable coach throwing out good players because he can't coach them

Carlton... Mad Mick turfing out his goalkickers for peanuts,

Richmond... only made finals because Sydney tanked, got annihilated by Port, yet not making list changes

Saints... throwing out senior players for youth (because it worked for us)

Hawthorn... can't possibly fit anyone else in, will likely win 3 in a row but only 22 can play in a GF

North... idiotic recruiting blunder that cost them a gun midfielder for an injury prone soft player, but looking ok

Melbourne... coming off a losing culture, have a premiership coach for 2 years, a gun assistant coach on a 5 year coaching plan, showing improvement but desperately need more wins.

I'd say we're better placed than half of the other teams above, in terms of stability. Culture though... that'll take time to fix.

Yes and know. Yes because i'm loving our stability. Yes if it was the Cats. But no in the doggies case. They are struggling as bad as us and can't afford a crisis.

No they aren't.

Stuff them. They've been playing off in prelims only 5 years ago.

Too many princesses in this current generation of footballers. If guys like neeld and McCartney are seen to be too hard, how would they go under barassi??

Barassi had their respect. He was a revered player and coach. Neeld and McCartney were neither.

You can't operate in authority without credibility.

That's not to say that you need to be a great player to be a great coach, it's just that the words of a player or coach who has achieved will hold far greater weight with the listener.

I don't disagree with that.

You can't tell me some coaches were genuinely feared by players on the past. Today's lot would go to water and leave or white ant the coach. Weak as pizz

A coach can be hard if they treat everybody fairly. But if they start picking on individuals, or start treating one group of players differently from the rest, then they just erode their own authority.

Who ever said Neeld or McCartney were "too hard" other than a few flogs on a footy forum? "Too incompetent" would be more accurate.

It's an interesting topic. The fans were convinced that the young players at Footscray loved him, the club has also tried to sell this as well. So, what the real story? Is he really incompetent or is he a casualty of a group of spoilt footballers who are very comfortable with their efforts and income.

Now would be an ideal time to poach one of their kids.

Greenwood a gun midfielder?

Seriously?

That's an enormous exaggeration.

Totally. Now offer them something for Mcrae. ;)

Yes, Macrae for pick 3, but now would be the time to start talking to all their managers.

He's shown a lot more than friggin Higgins has. At least he doesn't spent most of the year nursing injuries.

So... time to go back and ask Dahlhaus if he still wants to play for the Bulldogs?

I think Mcrae for pick 3 + 23 would be closer to the mark. Excellent idea.

Dahlhuas rumoured to want out of dogs now. He would be worth a look with pick 3? Although the source of the rumour is that bespectacled clown Barrett

Is he really that good?

Bag him all you want but he broke the:

  • Goodwin news early
  • Hogan Back Injury
  • Essendon saga
  • Gold Coast coaching saga.

Yes I cant stand him but atleast he does get most of them right.

He probably read my comment and ran with it as his newest invented rumour.

Sure.

But does that classify him a 'gun'?

Definitely not.

good

Will gladly trade pick 2 for Dalhaus and 6, as long as the Dogs promise to take McCartin so we swoop on Brayshaw at 3

Pick 3 would be way overs for Dalhaus. http://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/L/Luke_Dahlhaus.html

He's a good player, but he's small (178, 77) and in his 4th year in the system avg disp: 22, scoring shots: 2, tackles: 4. If he was 185 and 85 kg it'd be a different story, but he's just not worth skipping on whoever will fall at no. 3.

Would be asking for Macrae or Bont (no way they trade them), or two players inc. Dalhaus.

It's a good trade if we get pick 6 in return though. Bulldogs get their key forward, we get Lever, Daulhaus and Brayshaw.

But they'll take Wright or McCartin with pick 4 (likely the pick from GWS for Griffen) so we probably don't have much leverage anymore.

Not for a second saying Dahlhaus is worth the 3 spot downgrade, but size is perennially overrated. A good footballer is a good footballer.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
