It's looking more and more likely Trengove will be walking over to Punt road today and so far we've got nothing to show for it but stupid riddles and a shaky promised from GNF that we're 'probably' getting a really good player or two out of this, that none of us or anyone else can work out or catch wind of who that might possibly be.

Christ, Melbourne what the hell are you doing...

Blue legs I thought the word was the deal had not eventuated in regards to JT? Have you heard different? Edited by felixdacat

Well if we're going to do riddles....

Our marsupial is digging into his old pouch.

My guess: Zak Jones! The 'joey' in the pouch...our captain's 'little' bro?

GNF said 2 players...the other one?

Not that these guys are the lords of knowledge, but they certainly seem to know more than me. First cab off the rank shortly?

i think he means our Roos is digging into his old team

Zak Jones plays for the Swans

If it is him it will more than 'blow our minds'. It will lessen our disappointment at potentially losing Jack T and Jack W! It would also guarantee our captain signing a new contract.

Playing the game !! The methods are stealth, misinformation, subterfuge , smoke, mirrors and timing.

To play this well you must be shrewd. This ISN"T a public information exercise. If we know nothing at present its because its not to be announce yet or its not completed yet and the various parties need to be informed etc. They are the people , not us

I laugh when people complain about not being kept in the loop......we ARENT in the loop.

i believe I have solved this riddle and if I am correct it is going to blow ppl's minds!

By the end Thursday this week the MFC will have a new player and that player will be.......

No I can't ruin it I best just wait until they announce

I think I've nailed it too - so I'm putting it out there.

I think it's a 2 star deal, other members are probably pretty close with the Lancelot/Kennedy thing but here's my take on the first part:

  • The only black mouse I know of is Mickey
  • The only electric clock of any significance is on Punt Rd (where we are working on a Trengrove deal)
  • We aint getting Mickey Martin running up the road to the 'G'

figure the rest....

My worry is that we've never really been very good at this, our record of pulling off these kinds of exceptional trades is not great...

Our record may not be great but Roos is a different story, and now they 'our' also includes Roos (and Stone etc) then our record in the past has no meaning.

Oh in a way I agree about past track records. Not particularly marvelous though it took a distinct turn the the better last year.

Prior to last year also there would have been 'leaks' left right and centre and then not a lot to follow in terms of substance. Now seems the polar opposite.

The club keeps ;mum' much goes on behind those closed doors and players are sought and sorted. The minds trust at the club now operate to the betterment of the club and its list . They understand the holistic approach that the list must be continually upgraded and its about the abilities not so much the glamour of potential inclusions.

No one saw Tyson coming , nor the method of delivery. We sort of expect something similar this year and yet again what is delivered may be even more left field.

The club now understands you need all the ducks lined up and you cant go off half cocked.

I have no idea who will actually be the next steals , no more than 99% here but Im confident that whoever they are they will better the list.

Being reported on Trade radio as we speak that the deal is all but done.

Don't have access to the radio, what deal?

I'm not entirely happy about this, Trengove for 12 yes but not 23.

That was always the deal. It's overs yes, most of us were content with is if it paved the way to a star but so far there is nothing of any substance to suggest we'll get one. The only thing of interest is that no one in the media can really work out what we're up to.

Posted

This deal better be the catalyst for a mega deal in which we are the beneficiaries of a star.

Otherwise, I will not be happy.

I'm still a strong believer that Trengove has nowhere near shown what he is capable of and I'll be sick if we see it at the tiges.

the deal isnt confirmed

it was just Peter Ryan from afl.com saying it might happen today, or might not... he has no idea

Or maybe we have nothing in the works and will simply take pick 12 in order to have more top 20 picks?

But really, since when has Roosy been a big fan of earlier picks? Look at his track record of late picks 30+ compared to first rounders.

Eddie McGuire this morning

"The five-way [trade] will go through with everyone included, with Heritier Lumumba going to Melbourne, Travis Varcoe to Collingwood, Mitch Clark to Geelong, and Beams (to the Brisbane Lions)."

I think that will be the end game. Would not be a logical deal otherwise.

Here's the link:

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/melbourne/news/2014-10-14/trengove-reaggravates-navicular-injury

"In terms of the preliminary trade discussions involving Jack, like all deals, Clubs cannot talk with any certainty about the player before he has been medically cleared. Obviously in this case, that has not happened and Jack will remain at the Melbourne Football Club."
