Right, anyone want to draw up a scenario where we end up with 2 a-graders AND get to keep pick 2 (as per GNF's claim). I just can't see any way this can happen, even factoring in Trengove and others (such as Watts) leaving.

theres a lot of scenarios on the table.

one of which is 1 and Jack Steven for 2 and 3.

Why do we need or want a pick 1 upgrade & is Steven really worth a pick that high on his own? (Honestly I ask cause I barely saw saints play at all this year)

id do that in a heart beat. But i don't think they would.

I don't think he is. Steven is a good player, but he's not quite that elite player we crave (e.g. Kennedy, Dangerfield). We're basically trading pick 3 for him plus a slight upgrade from 2 to 1....not for me.

I just looked up his highlights & stats, he had a big year, but doesn't scream elite to me either. Looked very good though, maybe he can get to elite?

Pick 3 to St Kilda for Steven

Adelaide give up 10 or Richmond give up 12 for Trengove and 2nd.

Mid first, MC extra pick (rumours to that effect going round) for Hannebury?

I don't reckon Steven is in the same league as N.Jones just yet (remember these supposed A-graders are going straight to the top of this bunch, according to GNF), but would def trade pick 3 for him.

And now Chook enters the fray. All the big rumour mongers. Lovin' it.

Not sure I'd do that deal. I'd prefer to get greedy and hold out for someone else.

Stevens and Hannebury are a stretch as elite/a-graders to me, but you did manage to put together something plausible IMO. 3 for Stevens seems a tad high, Pick 10/12 & a 2nd rounder for Hannebury is fair-ish, although dunno why swans would do it unless he really does want back to VIC and/or they have salary cap issues.

In fact I'm not sure why saints would move their best midfielder in order to take Petracca as well as McCartin either. But it is the saints so who knows.......

Had already thought about Jack Steven. Wow that would be a gutsy trade from the Saints.

But black and white but not a little bird - Swans or Cats!

Could the cats pull the trigger on Steven Johnson? Would we give up a 2nd round pick for him at 31?

Then the swans have a veritable hit list of players who would be the best on our list. I wouldn't be fussy!

think the catters may be blue & white, but.

I'm calling it now, GNF is full of it!!!! Built up a few cheap credits & is now cashing in on laughing at us all!!

However, since I'm here...... He said it's 2 players who will clearly be our best talents on our list as soon as they arrive, so better than what Jones was in 2014, it could only mean (and not all of these are CLEARLY better than Jones IMO - I love our captain):

Crows

- Sloane & Danger (Tex not better than Jones based on 2014 IMO but can be).

Magpies

- Pendles & Beams (some would argue Steele is getting up there as well, I don't).

Giants

- Nobody (none better than Jones although Trelore, Sheil, Cameron & other could be next year or after).

Swans

- Kennedy, Franklin, Parker, maybe Hannerberry (I really rate our Jonesy).

Power

- Boak & Grey (plenty of others potentially as good/better than Jones but not clearly better yet).

I'm just going by what clubs others have guessed, I got no idea what the cryptic msg really means.

So realistically which 2 can we land?

Beams is on the market for sure, none of the others are publicly but it's assumed the crows have their work cut out resigning all 3 on big contracts. There's rumors aplenty re Danger and Sydney have been eerily quite, even regarding getting screwed with the COLA changes. Maybe something surprising coming from there? However, I don't see how we get 2 players better than Jones' 2014 out of picks 2,3 & potentially Trenners/Pick23 or 12, unless there's also interest from one of these teams in a Watts or Grimes type (maybe relates to Anderson's tweet about more former high picks to go for trade?).

So, after that waste of 2 minutes as an excercise, at this stage I'm convinced GNF's claim is BS. Of course, if we end up with 2 superstars better than Jones was in 2014 next week I won't be complaining at all!!

could always have been smoke & mirrors, to take away thoughts which may have been getting uncomfortably close to the Mark ?

Then how would we shower him in glory if he's both wrong publicly & right privately. What would be the point in that? Could only be to [censored] with us! Haha

Pick 2 for Cognilio and 7

Pick 3, 23 and Trengove for Sloan and Lyons

Pick 7 for Hannebury

Pick 3 for an A grader

Pick 23 and Trengove for 12

Pick 12 and Watts for 7 (which by now is at the dogs and they are keen for a ready to go player to make sure they don't drop off with Cooney and Griffen)

Pick 7 and Toumpas for 3 (which is maybe at the Crows who don't need a key forward and instead want the 2 for 1 to get a midfielder and key defender).

I do really find that all very unlikely. Not to mention it's a 4 for 1 deal. Where we'd need to use late draft picks to fill the list.

If you're talking A graders better than Nathan Jones you are talking A grade picks, which means putting 2 and 3 in to deal with the possibly of getting other first rounders back along the way

He might not always be 100% right, but I'm yet to see him 100% wrong.

But we'll see. COB on Thurs will make or break many a post.
