Still think Petracca will be read out by the saints.

Either way McCartin or Prtracca will both be solid pick ups.

Petracca = Sylvia

You ask these questions because thy are unexpected. You don't care if they get it right - you want to see if they get stressed, how they react to an order that is left field, how their thought process works, do they write it down or struggle through. It's a psychometric test.

That's quite funny. A mate of mine works at the Geelong Falcons. He told me this morning that he spoke to a few of the boys at their recent presentation night about being interviewed by clubs and what they ask. And they said that some clubs asked them to "spell TOMATO backwards" and "recite the Alphabet backwards". I kid you not.

If Petracca has failed these tests and comes to us because of it, i am more than fine with that. Heck, i'm a teacher so i'll even go and and teach him how to spell tomato and the abc backwards myself!

If he can spell ABBA backwards we should take him!

Get him to spell the band "ACDC" - for anyone who hasn't heard it - google "Spell ACDC radio contest" - it makes me weep for the future of this planet.

Petracca = Sylvia

Reading Sylvia's bio and reading Petracca's - if we secure Petracca I would like to think he can become what we all hoped Sylvia would be - not what he turned out to be.

I immediately thought Travis Johnstone....

I don't agree with it. Dustin Martin would probably have trouble spelling his own name, yet is one of the best players in the league. He is just one example. I feel like recruiters are trying a bit too hard these days. Could we make their jobs a lot easier by raising the draft age to 20?

A lot of the psychometric testing is just way overboard for the role the kids are being looked at for. Its footy. Paint it any way one likes and its essentially about general fitness , athleticism and most importantly the ability to PLAY the game.

Judging by what many go through you'd think we were evaluating prospects for combat fighter school !!

As SS suggests they are over-thinking a lot of this. Yes it's about having an aptitude for the game at the 'elite' level ( god I hate this word elite nowadays lol ) but imho they've created far too complex a labyrinth for them ( draftees ) to course. Its not quite a sledgehammer to a Walnut but then you can crack a Walnut without aid if you know what you're on about. This is how i think when all is said and done that picks are made..by the recruiters judging whether a kid can play. The rest is icing...and far too much of it.

Easy!!

Aye Sea Dee See

easy ??

try Eh Sea Dee See !!

aye sounds like...eye !! :)

in 30 hours the Petraccattack will be officially an MFC player

I understand from a St Kilda source that "Petracca is a done deal".

Good news either way as I was sold on the idea of Paddy joining forces with Jesse and forming a formidable duo.

glad its all been cleared up !! :wacko:

its meggs vs the media

who will be right?

id probably have to back in Meggs considering the state of footy 'journalism'

Sophisticated psychometric testing with proven normative data can profile players leadership qualities, decision making and other traits.

I think you will find banks, accounting firms, insurance coys etc. rely heavily on the them for their graduate intakes. These guys are entering their chosen field of work.

Don’t know about being able spell tomato backwards however.

I have no doubt they do.

My nightmare - PR says "What St Kilda do won't impact our two picks"

It was never a late twist. Please don't get brainwashed by these idiots. This outcome was known some time ago and was in fact the reason why all of a sudden we became more comfortable keeping pick 2 & 3 back during the trade period, when we found out who the Saints were going to take (6 weeks ago). If you need proof, I called it in my posts on October 18 (6 weeks ago)

  • REPORT: Carlton

    I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

    The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

    A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
