Hawks list manager Graham Wright now on Trade Radio: "Frawley is contracted for 4 years, we're hopeful he can play 5 to 6."

To me this DOES suggest a 'play-on " clause.

Honestly I think we are well over the line for pick 3 and I think the Club has been aware of this for some time. 95% positive that we will be properly compensated. There is, however, that MFCSS bit of me that thinks that we will get totally screwed and will end up with an end of first round pick.

I have to wonder if Frawley has really thought this through. He says he wants a flag, but he's gone to a team that looks to be nearing the end of its window. They are still being carried by the 30+ brigade amd while the youth look good, they don't look ro be in the same league. Can they really win another one with this list?

Yes... yes they can.

Everyone wants to win a flag but they are not the easiest thing in the world to come by - however if you wanted to go to a club where you are going to get immediate success - you would pick one of four teams - Hawks, Swans, Freo or Geelong.

This "end of window" theory does happen to all teams but you try and stop that happening by developing your youth and recruiting well - something that all four of the teams does ( although Lyon/Freo is not as big on regeneration as the other 3).

Bottom line is that if you want to leave your club for instant success you couldnt go past picking Hawthorn.

Not quite true, we still have Jamar. But I'm not surprised that no one remebers he was an AA ruck one year.

It's probably because he's done bugger all since and did bugger all in the lead up to his AA year.

These top teams will be forever in their premiership windows thanks to the buffoons that run the AFL that allowed this FA farce to morph into!!!

And teams like ours who try to develop players for the future will stay just that,

I don't for one moment begrudge any player who has put in 8 years to a club that has failed the way we have so spectacularly to take advantage of his few remaining years to seek success elsewhere !!

But something needs to be fixed with the system pretty quickly or the AFL will lose with increasing rapidity more fans from nursery / struggling clubs!!

Sorry maybe i went off piste for my anti FA rant!!

ooops - add them to the list.

I guess I just scratch my head at posters suggesting that a player who is looking for success is mad to go any of the four clubs I mentioned ( and Port).

Poster were ridiculing Geelong saying they are finished - maybe they are finished but you stall decline by getting in players like Frawley and Clark to improve your list.

I think we all want him to earn $1 more than entitles us Compo Band 1. Don't want him earning too much :)

I'm feeling all we need is Eddiewood to be screwd over by FA as much as us and his natural winging and whining will force AFL house to change it up. We need Collingwood to be down in the dumps with us. Love Eddie!

I used to find it odd seeing Melbourne players in opposition jumpers but seeing Frawley in the Hawthorn jumper didn't have any impact on me.

He looks like a Hawthorn player!! now if he joined the Cats, that would look strange to me

no they are fine tuning the formula on the run.....................normal afl practice................nothing odd here

come on just announce the compo

bloody hell the AFL are useless

They are pretending that they're working on it. Wouldn't look good if they came straight out and gave us pick 3.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
