GAMEDAY - Round 9

Win clearances, stop their rebound (overcompensate for Gawn), stop Riewoldt = Win

All respect to Tom Hafey. I'm hoping to see him appropriately honoured today both before the game and with an exciting contest.

Just hoping we can do what the Lions did to us after Jimmy's passing and put it all aside to clinch the win.

JKH is the sub.

Thats a bit of a surprise - hopefully he gets more than a quarter - maybe if Salem is spent at halftime JKH can come on. This puts even more pressure on Dawes.

Why?

Came over from the west for my first game as a member in 6 years after signing up 2 weeks ago. I thought there were a lot of bogans in Perth however these "Toiges" supporters could almost take the cake.

Pumped for the game. Very surprised JKH is the sub, was he sub when we beat them during he NAB cup?

Richmond have the cockiest supporters in the afl, can't stand them really hope we win today !

Just got to the G and it's my birthday. My brother organised with the club for Jesse hogan to sign a birthday card for me. The club said they were happy to help out any members. It's a pretty good club we've got here.

JKH being the sub surely must be about long term management, I'd imagine the plan if all things go well would be to sub Salem out.

JKH is the sub.

I'm overseas so can't watch the game, all updates are much appreciated.

For what it's worth, I live overseas and watch every game through the AFL website's streaming service. About $100 for a season pass but they probably have cheaper short-term subscriptions too. Could be worth looking into.

Surprised to see JKH as the sub although very pleased to see Salem get a start. Love the optimism people on here have towards this "Pigdog" character, but let's not forget he was delisted by another club not long ago. Wouldn't be expecting miracles but if he can play a role like a Terlich or Matt Jones then I'll be happy.

We have a lot riding on this one, and I've got the biggest dose of PMT (Pre-Match Tension) that I've had in years. I'm comfortable with JKH being Sub. It's good player management, and Salem will play a similar role IMO. When JKH comes on for however long, he could have a major impact.

Maybe you could draft up a contract extension for him to sign as well? Two birds, one stone.

And after so many years of knowing we won't win this is such a foreign feeling... I don't know what to do with it...

I'm only here until tomorrow, plus I have work to do so will probably only get in a sneaky look or two at Demonland.

My god Richmonds pre game announcers blow.

Toumpas in for Jetta late change.

Jetta out with gastro. Toumpas in.

I don't mind that change.

Gotta feel for Jetta though - would be pretty frustrated

I don't mind that change.

I hope that Toumpas can play well enough to earn a spot for next week.

Is it too late to change the sub? I think I'd prefer to see JKH play the full game and Toumpas as sub.

Have a 4 month old strapped and sleeping on my chest so its an arm chair ride today . . Coopers pale open , hoping to see the dees turn up in a big way. Hopefully its electric at the G .Smash em demons !!!!

True but Toumpas may replace Jetta as a defender

Big chance for toump. Was named in back line at Casey. Needs to work on defensive pressure obviously.

You will have to keep the fist pumps and body slamming to a minimum then

Can we make Toumpas the sub and put JKH on the ground now?

Sounds good to me if we could, we need goal scorer's

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
