guys

i am looking for a copy of 1995 r7 Melbourne v Brisbane bears played at mcg. It was a sunday game, and was Melbournes first victory of the year, 12.10.82 to 10.15.75.

Channel 7 did a 1 hour replay at 5pm on the sunday.

I have already contacted name a game/sports delivered, ch 7, the club, the afl, tried youtube and various torrents sites, no luck.

Does anyone have this game, and if so, can they do me a copy? i have plenty of old melbourne games from the 1980s to early 90s to offer as a swap.

any assistance would be greatly appreciated

thank you

Langers, I'm afraid that I don't have a copy but I do remember that game well: Garry Lyon played one of the best quarters that I have ever seen by an AFL player.

My memory of that game was that Melbourne were rightly favourites. We had played off in the previous year's Preliminary Final and it looked like Neal Balme had unlocked the team's potential. The Bears were still in their infancy and were near the bottom of the ladder. However, the first 3 quarters were a struggle and the Bears had nudged ahead at 3/4 time.

Balmey threw Garry Lyon from full forward to the midfield at 3/4 time in a desperate attempt to wrest back control. Gazza came out with all guns blazing, and it felt like he collected 15-or-so possessions in the last quarter to get us over the line - what a star!

As it turned out, Melbourne bombed that season and the Bears made a late-season charge and snuck into the finals. In the finals, they pushed Carlton hard, just falling short in Robbie Walls' last game as coach of Brisbane. Carlton went on to win the premiership.

Langers, thanks for bringing this game up. I'm afraid that I don't have a copy but I did enjoy remembering.

If I'm not mistaken, the return match at the Gabba was the last game of the season, a sudden death affair - the winner to the finals, the loser to the end of season trip. Garry Lyon was prominent in that game also - as the step ladder to Shaun Smith's "Mark of the Century". At least there was some momentary joy that day….

why?

a mate of mine needs it, he collects old games like i do, but his collection goes to the end of season 1995, mine goes to the end of season 1990, its the only televised melbourne game he needs from 1985 to 1995, he has the rest of them.

The tough on baller won his second Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Trophy in a narrow battle with skipper Max Gawn and Alex Neal-Bullen and battled on manfully in the face of a number of injury niggles. Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.  KE

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
