Official Site - Player Photos

Just a small nitpick but we might want to update the player photos on the official site. The link above has the players in the old jumper with the old sponsors logo on them. We were chided for not looking after our sponsors and it's these type of things that can add up to hurting relationships. I'm not saying sponsors are going to walk because of this but we should update the site with the new photos that were taken and were put in the little magazine that we got last week.

Totally agree with you, the sponsor page hasn't listed China Southern yet either.

In the 2014 season guide handbook, it lists all the players' photos with updated guernsey, ht & wt.

Wouldn't have thought it all that hard to update the website. I say it time & time again, but melbournefc.com.au is rather poorly run.

Media department's issue.

Now that you mention it, I can't recall any official statement regarding that sponsorship on either the MFC or AFL websites and Roos certainly had nothing on his MFC shirt last night on AFL360. Was anything mentioned during the season opener dinner?

I think the amount and quality of content is fantastic but little things like the issue mentioned in the OP are often forgotten.

The current sponsors should be looked after and past sponsors should not get any free publicity.

Edit - Having said that I really need to update the banner on Demonland.

It would be great if the club could get in contact with me and give me access to those high quality images of the player portraits that were taken a few weeks ago.

Anyone know anyone at the club?

This is not an excuse but I know the media guys, the website is a work in progress, everything was progressing well, but we had Dean Bailey's passing and then the Commencement Dinner, needing to provide content for the website, if it didn't appear there would be whinges about that

The Club is always looking for volunteers to assist in any capacity, if you are a web gun give them a bell

There is also the approvals required for web content, explained it last year as well, some of the constraints/rules etc

I am sure given time the photos will get updated

'China Southern will become Melbourne Football Club’s presenting membership partner and gain extensive exposure through the Club’s media backdrop, scroll and parapet signage at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), digital advertising through the website and extensive match day activations.'

We could be in the same ward hardtack I missed a quarter page advert for going to the NT yesterday.

By the way who are you again!

Spoke yesterday, send an email to [email protected], they know what you want re the photos

Also Jesse Hogan is now dressed properly, the rest will folllow soon, it's on a long list, I know it's long I saw it

Such a small thing but you'd think at AFL level, these things would all be done promptly.

It still reflects where we're at as a club in my opinion. No matter how insignificant it might be to some.

They have a website. They have player profiles. They have a whole department working on this stuff. We're at round two of the 2014 season and they've still got last years photos with last years jumpers and sponsors on.

As I said, there'll be people who don't care one bit about this, but you've got to question what the media/digital marketing team do with their time..

Oh great they don't have photos, scrap the whole bloody team, not gonna win a premiership without updated photos

Haha

I said it would come...

Congrats on being the first to make the extremely exaggerated, over the top and obvious sarcastic response to my post.

Nobody saw it coming..

It's a professional sporting club. There's a team that are paid to look after those things so people like myself and other posters shouldn't have to bring it up.

This isn't the amateurs. It's the AFL.

Your response is indicative of the type of supporter you are. One that settles for mediocrity.

This will be the last time I post to you. Kisses.

Yeah the fault of the people who should keep the website updated, that doesn't affect the way the group play, supporters like you who try to blame everything under the sun on the way the club is travelling.

Don't get upset, i've read things you've posted before and I know you're a knowledgeable bloke, and a good supporter but I think you shouldn't get upset by them not putting the photos up on the site

We have 2 people to do all of our web, social media, publications, and all other design including mail outs, reports, membership, promo, etc etc etc... So don't bag out the people trying to do the work other clubs have way more people to do, bag the members who don't join so we can't afford the same resources.

Bag people who can't afford a membership? mmkay

I don't think these two things are mutually exclusive.

If they can't afford it, fair enough I get it, and I don't bag them, but we have PLENTY of supporters who could easily afford it but still don't join.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
