I think this time I tend to agree with you. There was just so much failure by this club over the last period of years, it is just not worth getting upset over.

We all know we stuffed up on so many counts, recruiting, coaching , administration etc, etc, etc.

We now have a capable CEO and a good Coach and some recruits who seem to be up to it and some trades who are better than what we had. Out list is better, our attitude is better, our optimism is up, let's move on and look forward to a better future.

Hey Redleg all I did was ask a question I made no judgement no analysis just a question

People like you and Saty seem to have agendas that go way past my simple mind, my question was answered and big thanks to those who read the post and answered it Geesssus!

Jesse's extension would give me an 'extension'.

Even the thought of it excites me.

Oh dear !!!!!

At least everyone's rooting for the same side.

Isn't it wonderfull that that one one word seems to have largely withstood the onslaught of the American "cultural" invasion.

Not to mention 'land sensorship.....

I was perusing some draft history last night trying to figure where we went wrong in terms of draft outcomes selections etc

One thing that did stand out was 2011 national Draft

1) Available selections - Our first pick was 36 Taggert games 0

- Our seconf pick was 52 Tynan games 2

- Our third pick was 54 Sellar games 23

2) Rookies all failed

3) No preseason selections

My memory has failed me Why didnt we get a higher selection? Did we lose selections for some infraction?

Given that we finished 12th something must have happened?

The draft itself was considered the worst in recent years. A friend working as a scout/ recruiter for an AFL club told me prior that it was as deep as the top 15 at best and after that clubs were practically guessing (if you get my drift).

So as for Taggert, Tynan and Sellar being busts I can't really blame the recruiters on this one. Looking at the draft now the only really good quality picks amongst the vast range of later selections would have been Michael Talia and Lachie Neale.

Then Todd Viney took over in 2012 and suddenly we started drafting like a professional club

Jimmy Toumpas, Jack Viney, Jesse Hogan, Dean Kent, Dom Barry, Matt Jones, Dean Terlich

Might go down as the draft that saved our club and set up future success.

Sorry but that's a pretty bad list. Toumpas Barry Jones and terlich all major duds

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
