I desperately want a trade for Shiel, & a tall 197cm key utility (Jaksch, doesn't have to be this year).

And from this draft Petracca sounds great...... Along with the true small forward we need (Pickett), & also the midfielder-3rd-Tall Utility in (Lamb). somewhere around picks 8-15 ?

I reckon these players would give us the difference, & versatility & class, onto our list to go along way to repairing our lacking 'Class'.

I don't get why people are talking about Treloar? Great player, but looks settled to me this year, where Shiel looks to be cruising in 3rd gear, looks to want out to me.

Lets go after the ones we can get first. Shiel will be every bit as good or better once he's settled... then package in Jaksch; & also a deal for Tomlinson, not necessarily in this order.

IMO we can be patient with the 'Pres',,, as we improve & they plateau, which they will once in the top 6, then maybe we can strike a Blow on the fruiterer.

I get worried about players who rely on power at under age level. Also Trengove tested well but I always felt he was a tall in a small body.

I want to see him play like a midfielder with a bit of class. I just didn't see it in that one game.

Also, one of the last players I recall whose style was criticised for relying on power at under age level was Ollie Wines. I believe there are some around Demonland who may have regrets that we overlooked him. Of course, it works both ways because others knocked Jackson McRae because he was a virtual unknown in junior circles and people had no idea about his stamina.

Although physical testing remains important, there are other tests you need to apply and that is whether a kid can actually play football. I think we finally now have recruiters who can discern that a lot better than the mug who had the job a few years ago.

I think if you read the posts I've made here my concern is that we don't make the mistake of taking a footballer who is not a genuine midfielder. I'm not saying Petracca isn't and that's why I asked the questions I did.

In the past we made terrible mistakes by taking footballers who we thought would develop into mids - Blease, Tapscott, Strauss, Bennell and Jetta. And before that the classic example was Sylvia. From what I saw of Petracca, and I've acknowledged that it's only one game, he didn't look like a genuine mid, he looked like a tall flanker who's main attribute was his marking which I don't think is enough of an asset at AFL level.

IMO we need a genuine ball accumulator like Sloane, Shuey, Redden, Rockliff and Beams to name just a few we passed on, who can participate in possession chains and has the agility to find space in tight and make and execute good decisions.

Clearly the recruiting department will have the necessary information and do due diligence and I'm not questioning that. I'm just discussing the type of footballer we want and asking if Petracca has those attributes.
