One thing we can be sure of in life, every year all AFL clubs are thrilled on draft night, with the boys they drafted.

Yes it's true that every club thinks it did well in the draft but one of the most idiotic exercises is the one where so called "experts" rate the clubs on a scale of 1 to 10. You can only really do that if you look at the totality of a club's recruiting efforts - trades, free agency and all of the drafts.

In that respect, I think we're tracking well because we've made significant changes to our list and addressed our most glaring weaknesses. Now it's up to our coaching and fitness staff and the players themselves to put the icing on the cake.

Agree. And most of them were lamenting Brisbane's loss of five players, most of whom struggled to get a game or had made little impact. It was the death of their club. Now they laud them for having a strong draft and getting Aish, Taylor and Cutler and Co.

We always rationalise irrespective of what position we're in. I heard one of the Essendon recruiting people saying he was happy with who they got but really ... he would have been much happier if the whole peptide thing never happened and they never lost their picks.
