Im of the thinking we were never interested. Some folk took idle text chit chat way out of proportion and married that to a desire of their own to go after him.

I think you will find the Dees are flying a bit under the radar at present

I'm thinking there was probably a casual interest, otherwise why would Roos have been in talks with his manager. But I am now wondering whether this might indicate that we are close to reaching some sort of a verbal agreement on one of Adams or Swallow and so have now dismissed Martin as a worst case scenario option.

Once an impression is created it's hard to erase.

But if you read the Age article you'd see why your 'casual interest' line overstates it.

The Age clearly says Martin's manager rang Roos. Not the other way around.

So Carr is shopping his boy around and rings Roos, presumably because he thinks our number 2 pick is the sort of thing the Tiges would want.

Roos confirms his reputation by not jumping for this troubled and troubling young fella and we dodge a bullet, except there never was a bullet except in Carr's imagination.

The value I suspect existed in the exercise from our perspective is that it was a chance for Roos/MFC to flag our willingness to trade pick 2 in the right circumastances. That's all was ever to it.

There wasnt.. Carr texted Roos to congratulate him on his appointment. Roos said thanks..and probably to be whimsically polite ( or a bit of a shlt stir ) asked how he ( carr )was going with Dusty. More a poignant..."hows that ratbag of yours coming along type of thing" No interest, just a comment.

This suddenly gets turned into "Dees chasing Martin"...well , you know the media !! lol

I'm liking how this and Adams has taken the spotlight away from David Swallow. I hope we are stitching him up while everyone is discussing how much crack Martin smoked last weekend.

I based my comment on what Roos himself said during OTC (I think it was) on Monday evening... that he had been in conversation with Martin's manager and that he was waiting for Carr to get back to him. He didn't say who initiated the conversation/contact and so, just like the media, you, I and BB are making assumptions as well.

Im only repeating what Roos has said !!

Double exclamation marks? Did you stamp your foot as you typed that ^_^

I am also going on my recollection of what Roos said... but maybe you have a better memory than I... not that that's a big ask :)

Im not sure scully would be happy having a bad smell like martin around the club. GWS dont have a lot of older players to keep him in line. Anyway will see what happens but I dont think his manager is doing the right thing by him

As Belzawhatever suggests, Roos did initiate the conversation as he explained On The Couch. I guess not many things are black and white in Roos' world; unlike Neeld. Roos has the huge self confidence to either assess a bonefide DH or convert him. Never forget Roos' quote after Jason Ball missed a soda from out in front. "I've moved on....so should you."

you're dead right TGR ...things can be different in the "Roos " world

So would anyone rather no [censored] or win games?

Thankfully, far more knowledgable people than the posters here will make the decision on who we draft. It appears that people forget that kids do get off the rails from time to time, but in most cases they get back on track. Martin is a kid who will realise that he can either focus on his football and become an "a" grader or he will fall by the wayside. IMO, he has so much more to give and whoever gets him will get an absolute star. Hopefully Roos and co have the confidence that they can bring the best out in him.

or he'll end up in jail.

Terrible summation of the situation. Simplistic and shallow. Following that line of 'logic', we'd win every game if we had a team full of dheads. Lol!

I don't wanna win games I want premierships.

..... we can rise quickly, on the cheap, with strong NQR's, but we'll just end up as we have for the last 45 years. or as the saints just have finishing their short reign, lots a flare, promise & Zilch, no Cigar.... and now not much of a legacy to really grab other players imagination as must see stopover to finish their careers.

* the Cats, Swans, Hawks & Bombers are still players preferred destination after moving home.

I want us to do it right, & build a gamestyle with big bodies, & strong players who play like Men, & have the admiration of all the League, & players everywhere. this is our chance Now.

..... we don't want to do it like the saints did. or we'll be back to this same spot in 10 years time.

I'm not saying that but he would help out.

You need to win games to win premierships hahaha :P

But i do agree with what you said.

A yes or a no from you?

Do they have to be mutually exclusive?

No but i don't think because he is a [censored] we have to associate that to his footy (don't bring the prison salute into this)

His hair disturbs me too much. I just. I can't. No.

I consider NicNat's hair more disturbing, Jaded. Come to think of it, Fitzy's hair was also appalling when he was drafted. I don't understand the fashions these days. ;)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
