I'd take Laidley if everyone else suddenly died.

Good tactician, but would he be the bloke that the players would give their all for? Is he an inspiring leader that immediately gains respect? Think not. Pass.

hahaha

Someone in a past thread pictured Laidley as that highly strung school kid at the traffic lights repeatedly pushing the walk button until the lights changed. I like his intensity and passion. Also lauded as a great game day coach which isn't something we can boast since Northey??

I reckon we could do worse than Dean but I would still prefer Williams or Eade

Still have $$$ on Paul Roos.

Me too wyl, but no doubt it's more in hope than anything else. Being a lifelong Dees supporter can have that effect.

I have not given up on my preferred option in Paul Roos

Laidley has the reputation of having one of the best opposition list brains in football

He is worth an interview IMO and it would be interesting what he says about our list

People on here can be far too negative about first time senior coaches that fell short of success

Many experts consider that second try coaches have been much more successful

People judging a persons worth just on media savvy need only look at Ken Hinkley

While Laidley is down my pecking order simply saying no to someone who has had senior AFL coaching experience would be irresponsible

Where do people see Worsfold fitting in (if he doesn't re-sign)

Would he be the second best option behind Paul Roos?

I personally think after 13 years he might need a years break (rejuvenate his passion for coaching)

would have thought his background was perfect for the soon to be vacant Essendon gig

I think we need to forget all candidates to this job atm...

Give Craig a one year contract in the top job and see what he can do, with the objective to develop the list and build culture amongst the playing group

I personally believe that no senior coach will be replaced this year and the same crop will be available next year, giving us time to groom(Craig)/convince(Roos)/lure(Clarkson) a better coach

Highly unlikely, we need a long term coaching project to guide us through the most important rebuild in the clubs history, the key to this working is total club stability which would be impossible with coaches chopping and changing, PJ will appoint an experienced coach who is willing to see us through at least the next three years and back into being finals contenders

We can't just put the team on ice for another year!

We need action and we need it now!

I am already worried that Craig is currently implementing a game style that will only be scraped by the next coach (waste of time).

Time is of the essence not just for the supporters but the players and club.

So it appears that we don't need a coach that can take the club to the top but a coach who can sell the club to the supporters and sponsers. gee what a great idea, why don't we hire Tim Shaw that should please the masses!!

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit........the thing is we need a topline coach, someone who the supporters will have confidence in. As much as we don't like it, it's all about the almighty dollar.

lives around the corner and is a nice, if somewhat intense man. Takes angry pills regularly, though and has a whiff of the inept one about him.
