Casey Scorpions v Northern Blues

I have always really liked Davis.

Time to give him a go. He can't be worse than Gillies!

Pederson provides decent enough run off for a big guy, but just bombs it long, if he could spot up a player would be a huge improvement to his game I reckon

Half Time: Casey Scorpions 6.6.42 to Northern Blues 6.0.36.

Stats: Magner, Couch, J.Tynan 14, Davis 13, Hogan, Pollard, Strauss 12.

Goals: Hogan 3 Best Davis Tapscott

OK, I can see why the communal Man-Crush on Hogan. The kid is a freak of nature.

Quite impressed with Davis even if he is being played out of position. He looks taller than he's supposed to be. I think it's about time to give him a run in the seniors and see what he can do.

Also who said Hogan can't kick?

I call [censored].

Probably the same [censored] who promulgated the one about Howe (who leads the goalkicking with 18.9).

There's a lot of sheep on this forum who'll follow all sorts of unfounded suggestion.

Have you taken a close look at his action? He starts ok, but speeds up erratically, takes off to the right a bit like buddy but his leg swings from right to left like a terrible golf slice. Have a look at his leg follow through, its about a 45 degree angle There is a lot of work to do to make it smooth. There is a good reason he works on the kicking so much at training. It's not good.

I reckon he's a cracker though...

Might not be pretty but it's effective and that's all that matters.

To be perfectly honest, remedial action has the potential to do more harm than good as it'll unsettle his mind.

As he runs his head is nicely balanced and he kicks through the ball, and that's two very important things.

Goals have dried up for the Scorpions since the middle if the second quarter.

The Northern Blues have been doing most of the attacking and have just hit the front by 2 points thanks to a mark and goal by Robbie Warnock.

Nice kick by Dom Barry.

Hogan dobs 5 in a low scoring encounter.

Kid is nothing but a gun, would be clear no 1 if thrown in the draft, sides would be tanking for him!

Just a lazy 5 for Hogan with the shittest forward delivery of all time.

He's a certainty at Melbourne too with that sort of ability.

Some nice work from Barry too. He's definitely not timid.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
