Pederson 3 years and 300 burgers

Just more vindication for the believers of a history of poor development versus the sample that believe we recruited dumb footballers.

Still I can't get over the Toumpas vs Wines debacle. If Roosy and the other coaches can do to Toumpas what they've managed to do with Pedo I'll be very pleased.

Gysberts, Cook and Morton weren't dumb footballers, they were just pea hearts.

Cook and Gysberts taken far FAR too early.

We haven't recruited dumb footballers, we've just recruited guys in the first round - that probably belong in the 3rd round.

According to that article Jack viney is out of contract at the end of this year

He infamously signed a 5 year contract as a 16 year old so he has another year to go on that thing.

i would say famously :)

i would say famously :)

Infamous for the ramifications for FS bidding, and famous for everything else.

Worried that he'll want to go play with his former team-mate Ollie Wines. Re-sign him NOW, FFS!

I wouldnt be surprised if Viney's heart had the MFC written all over it.

He will not be leaving. He is a demon through and through, just like Jack Trengove

Surprised that I sucked anyone in. Of course he's ours for good.

ahh, 'Big Mac' Pederson,,,, Or 'Hungry Jack' Pederson? could be a handy nickname for the crashing Utility ??? :)

Maybe the best example of humble pie would be if someone could, or have posted, if his name could be spelt correctly...

What was wrong with the environment he had at Adelaide?

That whole team had gone to [censored]. The first year Sando turned up they looked a completely different outfit. They've since been hit hard by administrative incompetence, but they're still a better team than they were when Craig was running the place. I reckon I saw unrealised potential in Sellar. Whether I was right or not, I guess now I'll never know.

I didn't mind Sellar, he was a pretty handy defender at times in his first year. He was very good in that famous victory over Essendon. However, he could not take a mark to save himself.

Indeed - there's no doubt he couldn't have timed his arrival at the club any worse. Given the woeful state of our club, it makes it very hard to judge players who were here at the time because they just weren't given the chance to survive. The only reason I'm less inclined to give a player like Sellar the benefit of the doubt was because he was on the Adelaide list for 5 years, including years when their team was strong. I would accept that he was really unlucky in his time here under one of the worst coaches of all time, but I struggle to believe that any player could just be unlucky like that in 8 seasons in the AFL across two clubs. Some players just aren't good enough and I expect he was one.

For me I reckon he wasn't a good enough mark for his size. Particularly early in his time at MFC when playing foward, he seemed to get in to marking positions and then not take the mark. He was a frustration for me. He did have likeable attributes though, and you're right, we'll never know now what could have been if his second attempt at an AFL career had been under competent coaching.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

  • POSTGAME: Western Bulldogs

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
