Blinkybill 276 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 A sensational interview. Neeld has class. He could have dumped on the club. He didn't.
PartyTimeJohnny 537 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 He's a class act. gutted for the bloke.
tonatopia 278 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Je thinks he is still the greatest coach in the world and did nothing wrong, made no mistakes and apart from his looks is otherwise perfect. He can't see what the issue is an expected to get thumped week in week out for 2 years. What's the problem with that? Everything is fine. And you think moloney is a [censored], spare me!
az_tec 41 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Feel sorry for the guy..... don't know why Good interview , hope he gets another gig next year
markc 975 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 very well spoken , Not a bad word about the club , didnt believe he lost the players , said he spoke to Don daily sure there is more , says the future will be good. still called is we as in the club
Guest Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Neeld is a fraud. Sorry, arrogant, delusional fraud. Thank god he is gone! What a disgrace and liar. And I believe if you pull the skin just under his neck, you will pull his mask off and reveal that he is a Scooby Doo villain.
Bay Riffin 1,550 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 What was said? I am now convinced neeld is completely deluded. Questions were exactly what you would expect - did you lose the players ? You must be unhappy with progress? Lack of development of players eg watts and blease must be an issue? He just denied any issues of any of the above. Not even a hint there was any issues or problems. Everything was hunky dory.
ThreeOneSix 954 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 A sensational interview. Neeld has class. He could have dumped on the club. He didn't. The most classy exit I have seen full stop. Gary Lyon = Mr 'I'... 'I'.... I feel responsible... I I I.... F off Gary, this club does NOT need you..
tonatopia 278 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Garry Lyon is just the same. 2 peas in a pod. Both bullish artists.
Choko 493 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Understated and diplomatic are certainly not words I would associate with Neeld. But I would hope he has the good grace and sound judgemental to avoid the cheap swipe. He should move on. And I agree with poster that suggest Neelds appearances would mitigate any attempt to put the spotlight on Lyon who will once again be hopelessly conflicted. Having been involved in many dismissals of fixed term contracts, I would be flabbergasted if he did not have to sign a Deed. If he got a payout of his full contract (which I think he deserved), that is his best case scenario. Our only leverage would therefore be a deed. A deed is a small price for him to pay, given that it aligns with his interest not to pot the club. But make no mistake, he did pot the club. He repeatedly talked about doing what he was asked to do, and not being able to do it quickly enough for the Board.
Tatu 416 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Well spoken.... Same old stuff we've heard from him before.... He's shattered that he's gone.... But looks refreshed in away.... Personally I'd like him to stay, but his record is to much to justify.... Good luck Neeldy...
az_tec 41 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Now Gary is defending himself about not getting Ross Lyon
BAMF 4,488 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Having been involved in many dismissals of fixed term contracts, I would be flabbergasted if he did not have to sign a Deed. Wolfmother 182 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I have posted a few cracks at neeld as I thought he was a poor coach but he was all class He did a few things wrong without a doubt but he did what schwab and McCardy wanted and was tasked with... He took a long term approach sadly they all got the flick so he just took a chance and missed the opportunity
Strafford 182 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Again I don't believe everything is his fault, but man...he still regrets nothing. He just lost his job... He just seems stuck in processes, but what if his processes are flawed, as the outcomes would tend to suggest.
What 18,810 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Neeld is in denial and thinks he did everything right. Thank christ he is gone, what a nightmare 18 months that was.
Jaded No More 68,976 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 He was dignified. But my god he is stubborn. To never admit a fault when you were so clearly not coaching victorious sides, is baffling. However, it is his exit and he can choose to handle it any way he likes. I give him credit for sticking up for the club and we will always owe him Clark-Dawes-Hogan.
Wolfmother 182 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 It did show what he was trying to do with culture but missed the mark I think the captain one was a good example he had ten behaviours they were rated on and trenners and grimes were the standouts but it demonstrates small time thinking being an afl captain is about behaviours but its inly half of it and the other way wasnt rated what about advice to other players, holding the group to standards, media commitments etc etc
Hannibal 5,814 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Interesting interview. He's completely delusional, a liar, or thick as a brick.
Adam The God 30,911 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 [censored] off, Gary. Said that G Healy is the best man to appoint the next coach with Jackson. You mean the guy that helped you appoint Bailey? Lyon's decision making is abhorrent. I'm glad he won't have anything to do with it. Also, the way he avoided a combative, but at the same time honest question from Wilson. She asked whether Lyon had done due diligence in the search for the last candidate. No, you didn't Gary. If you want something you have to really want it. To use an old adage, 'no stone left unturned'. Don't let him near any decision making again. Sprout support or criticism from the media, but don't go inside the club, you've no idea.
The Big Ticket 94 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Good to see Lyon take some responsibility for picking a spud. Also said he won't be a part of selecting the next coach.
Adam The God 30,911 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 As for Neeld, I think he's as stubborn as a mule and lacks emotional intelligence. There's a bit of an ego in there too. He was never going to dump on the club tonight. That would have been committing industry suicide. "All class". Lol.
Jaded No More 68,976 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Good to see Lyon take some responsibility for picking a spud. Also said he won't be a part of selecting the next coach. Best moment of the season for me. Finally he admits he's responsible and vows to stay away. Should have saved my dancing banana for this moment.
Adam The God 30,911 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Good to see Lyon take some responsibility for picking a spud. Also said he won't be a part of selecting the next coach. He took a quantum of responsibility, but not enough. At not one point did he consider or note what the supporters have had to endure as a result of his past two failures.
