Game Day Thread - Hawks v Daemons

No bruise Wattsie is only trying as he sees Freemantle on the horizon. He will play really well NEXT year for someone else!!

Fitzy has been awful so far

i love that Kent and Fitzy are having a dip.

Dawes looking good.

I am so glad this will be Neelds last game as coach, we are lucky not to be down by 60 already

Watts having a good game so far. As a forward. Surprise surprise. If we lose him, we are an even bigger joke of a club than I imagined.

Loving Kent. Loving Terlich.

Dawes is useless to me if he can't nail relatively easy shots on goal.

We are incredibly lucky they can't kick straight or it would be game over already. 12 scoring shots to 3? Pathetic.

At least we are tackling with intensity. Lets hand out medals.

That was no" easy shot"

official stats say Watts has only 4 touches, that cant be right

The efforts there just not the polish or game plan

easy shot.. facepalm.

That's because Fitzy is awful. Good VFL player & that's where it ends.

He was 45 out on an angle. He wasn't the easiest shot but he should get those. Maybe I'm harsh to compare him to Clark, but for $500k a season, you'd want to be able to kick.

Sorry but that is his primary job.

Why play on, why?!?!?!?!

I swear to god we are trying to play like Hawthorn but minus all the skills.

I swear to god this is crap. Neeld can't geit angry when he clearly instructs our players to play on.

Jaded, if they don't try and take the game on everyone claims that the coach is too defensive. What would rather - the players back theymselves and try and win, or the players just try to minimise the loss from out set?

Keep Kent in for the rest of the season, Keep Fitzy out and delist at seasons end!

Couple of times Dawes blazed when he was going inside 50, when we had spares at half forward.

Bail's dribble-shot was selfish. Watts' snap likewise. We should have a couple but we were still blown away.

Like Kent, made a couple mistakes but still feeling his way into this level. Getting a bit of ball and just needs to settle and use his kick to advantage, makes tackles stick. Go easy on big Fitz, this time he needs a few games to see what he can do.

Haven't seen a single second, but looking at the stats, we've had 98 disposals in a quarter, which is better by our standards (we've been having games of 250 overall, 98 in a quarter way exceeds our usual output).

We're level on tackles 13-13. We're level in clearances 8-8. Those are good signs too.

Clearly the 8-19 inside 50 count is abysmal, and they could already be 8 goals up, but if we're matching them for tackles and clearances then hopefully there is a base to work off.

Nice to hear good things about Watts and Pedersen.

Sounds like Fitzpatrick is doing nothing to quell my fears that he will never make it at AFL level.

What is wrong with Channel 7? I am so sick of this 'slow mo/non consequential sequence of play' buffers they put in between play. It's more like a music video than a football game.

I'm all for playing on. When it makes sense. Not when you're panicked.

Our players mostly struggle to make good decisions. Even senior players. It's not good enough.

It's [censored] like this, running all the way down the ground and kicking a goal, that kills teams.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
