Gold Coast V Cats

Gold Coast could ruin the party at Geelong.

The umps are doing there best to assist the cats.

Make no mistake this Gold Coast team have some seriously talented players.

GC not hitting the scoreboard. Too much inaccuracy. Christ they look quick though. Gonna be a very good team in another year or 2.

The Cats may well rue having the lights put in. They may well put a spotlight on some of the horrendous umpiring decisions that have hamstrung many a great visiting team ( Melbourne 186 excluded)

Clock counting up and Brian effing Taylor won't shut up about it.

Gold Coast are slick. They need to trade for a KPF and they will be very handy.

Not sure about that. They have 3 very young but highly talented key forwards in Charlie Dixon, Tom Lynch and Sam Day, and Dixon was actually playing some really good footy at the start of the year before he got injured.

Personally, I thought they were a bit light on down back but Rory Thompson has come from nowhere and looks the goods.

Gold Coast are starting to look very very dangerous.

We played them into form!!

The score review system is interesting!

Geelong tonight - goal umpire says goal - review inconclusive - goal stands.

Adelaide earlier - goal umpire says goal - review inconclusive - goal disallowed.

"You cannot be serious!'

Man crush on Jaeger O'Meara!! He's a beast!

Are they in the mix for Buddy?

He boundary said he was 100% sure it was a point in the Adelaide game so the field umpire overrided the goal umpire.

And the goal umpire was adamant it was a goal!

Who is doing which job?

GC are doing very well developing players and with good coaching - don't 'wish' Buddy on them - they are better off without him!

I will be suprised if Jaeger O'Meara isn't in the best 2 or 3 players in the comp within 3 or 4 years. Ready made for AFL football, but still has great upside.

I'm loving this game... GCS up by 2 goals!

Hall is an absolute gun.

Prestia having a good night too... Gee I wish we could snare him. Not a hope though!!

Interesting to look at gold coast at stoppages and how they roll back in a line across the ground so there are outlets. Surely that's just discipline and Structure and effort

O'Meara will be the next superstar of the AFL, has Judd and Ablett written all over him! GC suns are a serious team now

Suns want this so much!!

Great game of footy this one. the Gold Coast have some great talent and the pressure they are applying. I wish the demons would play like this.

The Suns' forward pressure is unbelievable.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
