The Vic Metro v SA clash in a fortnight's time looms as the decider. At this stage, assuming we stay where we are on the ladder, Dunstan looms as a strong possibility to be picked by Melbourne at the draft.

Harvey kicks four goals (i.e. 1/2 SA's score) yet is not listed in their best players!

What gives with this guy?

Ben Cavarra is the player that Melbourne needs. Eastern Ranges has a great team this year.

Zak Jones in the best again WJ surely we at least gotta have a serious look at him?

Jones was highlighted in a brief segment on TAC Future Stars last week. I'm not a fan of coming to conclusions based on a few brief grabs of vision but he's not as chunky as his bro and has hair.

Can we cope with a third Jones on the list? It would make life difficult for some commentators.

Wow,Sheed looks good, just kicked a booming left foot goal from outside 50,then at the next clearance put his head over the ball and got cleaned up,this kid is tough, has a huge tank according to Shifter and is WA Captain,so has great leadership qualities.

Sheed just kicked his second goal after drawing a free 35m out.

Sheed looks like the only player out there that could go early.

Boasting his stocks, not many others doing themselves much justice IMO.

WA won 73-70 with a goal after the siren.

Dominic Sheed,30 disposals,12 contested,11 score involvements,4 goals,broke his collarbone in last 4 minutes of the game---Amazing 50m+ kick both sides,think Sam Mitchell

Will go Top 6,after Tom Boyd,James Aish,Matthew Scharenberg,Josh Kelly,Jack Billings-we'll have pick 1-2 so probably no good to us.

Now it's Vic M v SA, lets have a look at Josh Kelly and James Aish (played in Norwood Premiership at 16)

Tom Boyd injured.

Even with a broken collarbone, I'd take Sheed at 2.

No hesitations at all, for all those that want Dunstan... Sheed would run rings around him.

Jack Jones pretty quiet, played as small defender.

SA lead VM 28-20 at half time.

Josh Kelly,11 disposals-very slight like Scully, had a set shot 40 metres out and didn't make the distance.

Billings a better kick.

Kelly has racked em up though, but I'd prefer Billings, he just looks so dangerous in the forward line.

Billings going to be a gun player.

Billings looks very capable but as lean or leaner than James aish! The player out of the sa v metro game that has only increased my man crush on him is Matty scharenberg. Playing in the backline, he has swept up numerous metro forward entries. I think he is more of a fyfe, mundy, Cotchin type- taller with that agility and quick hand eye coordination.

Failing him, josh Kelly has really stood up. Just keeps on running and really good skills. Probably confirming his top 10 credentials today.

Been some good footy played here today down at Simonds Stadium.

Going on today's performances, I'd take Sheed as number 1 pick.

GWS would probably go for Scharenberg or Acres though, based on needs.

Underwhelmed by Dunstan so far.

Similar to Martin in that he is a beast, but hasn't found as much of it as you'd like, and I think he'd be a bit of a plodder at AFL level.

Aish and Kelly have shown some good glimpses, but are too slight to make an impact for a while.

Both are more outside than inside.

Clean skills, evasion and reading of the play though.

53 for WA (Cameron?) kicked the winning goal against Vic Country.

Took some great grabs, but kicks like Fitzpatrick.

Marsh was just another player.

SA won 58-55

My picks over both games are D.Sheed,M,Scharenberg,J.Kelly,J.Aish,J.Billings,L.Dunstan

GWS would be mad not to take Scharenberg as they don't need Key Forwards or mids and they are crying out for a Gun Key Defender.

I'd be happy to take Dom Sheed as he was the best player of the 2 games and goes as hard as JV.

if we get a priority sheed and aish would be an amazing combo for us

Forgot to say - Matt Crouch hit packs like Viney did at the same level.

Hard, fast and LOUD.

He's a player.

Would be very happy with Crouch and Sheed.

Not many talls in the upcoming draft to rave about.

For that reason I'd be wary of Boyd - doesn't had much competition.

Sheed is a lock for mine, looked the best player all day.

Was impressed with Scharenberg and Kelly - but wouldn't complain if we take Billings either.

Would think Sheed and Kelly would be top 5 locks.

Why does that matter? You don't think opposition teams would sit another player in front of Boyd? Have you even seen him play?

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
