GAMEDAY - Round 6

Featured Replies

I dont mean to sound so negative but it looks like a VFA team playing an AFL team...chalk and cheese in terms of skill and decisions.

why....how ???

We would struggle in the VFL. This is truly a joke - bail in the forward 50 and sylvia's efforts tell the story. Strauss isnt up to it.

Spread is awful. Just watching Jonesy and others going in for the hard ball, I notice how there is no one breaking or making any play. Use some initiative boys!

we simply dont... we dont KNOW how to play intuitive football...we dont understand how the ballwill move... we just stand flatfooted..all the bloody time. I dont get it.

Bring on Dean Kent or hand the keys back in - this is just embarrassing...

I'm going to suggest we try an Ice Hockey approach:

A - Start punching and keep punching until they go down.

B - Try the Mighty Ducks Flying V and try and walk one in.

coach killer...

or killer coach ??

At least this mob have a red hot. Depressing but at lay they look as if they care Silvia could have had us in this.

how are so many Scums un-manned ?

No spread, no second efforts, no pressure, poor decision making, unaccountable football, no shepparding, poor disposal. I think that about sums it up.

Hope Jaded is taking advantage of the free drinks !! lol

and above all slow and looking like they are asleep

Why bother winning the ball when we have NO ONE within 65 metres of goal....?!!!

we play a very 'scared' type of footy

Uncontested possessions:

CFC 50 MFC 26

We have no pressure and the zone is useless.

Sounds like we're woeful.

At least we're matching them in clearances and contested possessions. If that keeps up all day, that's at least something.

Obviously, an inability to pressure the ball carrier, coupled with our ridiculously poor skills, will lead to us losing most games.

It's not about contested possessions it's about uncontested possessions.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
