Neville Jetta Report

Absolute rubbish!

Yes it was an undisciplined act and yes it was stupid, but there is no way he will be out of the team for good... he is exactly what Neeld wants if we are to be the "hardest team to play"... he will learn the error of his ways, Neeld will have given him a stern talking to and a pat on the back and on the strength of the rest of his game, he will be back when available for selection. We need players who are prepared to go in hard and Nev fits the bill... he will be given the opportunity to redeem himself and he will have learnt from that experience.

I'm not saying he won't come back because of the suspension I'm saying when you're a fringe 22 player and you're suspended someone comes in and takes your spot. What they do with it is than out of your hands. This week it will be I imagine Strauss or Nicholson.. Both players who I see with a future at the MFC. 2 good games in a row by them and they're not going to rush Neville Jetta straight back in. It's not rubbish, that's football. He's put his position in jeopardy because if Strauss comes back in and provides drive and beautiful skills, he MIGHT never wear the junper again. Its not rubbish its the position he put himself in and has noone to blame but himself!

"He worked bloody hard to get in the team and now he may be out of it for good" - that was what I was referring to as "rubbish"... you immediately assume that there is a very good chance he will not get another game with the club. Ok, maybe not rubbish... maybe just a mild case of MFCSS :-)

Personally I was thrilled to see one of our guys get reported. I wish a few more would throw their weight around on the field. It sucks that Nev will miss a couple of weeks because he's just starting to find his feet at this level, but it was great to see. I only wish Watts could've nailed that bump he went for as well. A week for shirtfronting someone would do him the world of good.

at least 3 weeks as that is what Ryder got. And Jetta's was worse.

Or as little as one week because that is what Milne got, and Milne's offence was no better than Jetta's.

Toughness isn't a dog act behind play, it's beating your player to a loose ball or backing back with the flight. Can't believe some think Jetta's act of 'toughness' was good for the team. It was a disgrace and undisciplined and the reason he can't get a game. He got beaten by an 18 year old, took his revenge and sits out 2 weeks.

Good on you Neville, how pathetically weak.

Dog act??!! Certainly undisciplined, but not a dog act behind the play, á la Leigh Matthews or even Barry Hall's recently disclosed mia culpa, but late high contact.

reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). - cannot argue with that

    TRAINING: Friday 28th February 2025

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
