An idea so crazy it might work - Tebow time

So Master, you're saying Tebow (whatever) could be our very own version of a bloke who just may be the worst player in the last 20 years?

No, I don't think that's crazy.

Good point RTG. Just when you then it can't get more insane, a group of Demonlanders organize a ritual in the MCG carpark in an attempt to resurrect Norm Smith.

Debreczeni is tipped as a rugby star of the future given his combination of height, speed, strength, kicking and passing game.

Excellent idea from Essendon. Shame it got out now every club will be checking him out. May as well nominate for the draft.

But am I not the only one who think there isn't nearly enough AFL talent to be divided between 18 clubs. As long as you don't ruin your existing scouting networks every club should have some interest in non traditional recruiting.

No Master, there is a lack of depth. Yes, I've chuckled at Tebow but I am keen to get reports on our NZ prospect whose name ascapes me. So I know where you are coming from. Edited by Return to Glory

Forget Tebow - repeat the Irish experiment. It frustrates me that I see so many Irish lads playing for other clubs but none on the MFC list. Look at Toohey & Hanley this year. MFC should be trying to find the next Wight or Stynes. Many Gaelic footballers would love to play professional footy and to live in Aus.

Tommy Walsh - StKilda/Syd

Nial McKeever - OneDirection/Brisbane

Caolan Mooney - Collingwood

Marty Clarke - Collingwood

I'm not against the idea but the success rate isn't amazing. But then again the two you mention are very decent footballers, as well Kennelly and of course Jim. It seems if they make it big they really do become very good.

Best. Thread. Ever.

And maybe we could swoop in and sign Gareth Bale from under Real Madrid's nose.

How about another natural athlete I watched on the weekend, Phil 'The Power' Taylor.

Phil would work wonders in player psychology. The guy is a freak big time performer. All he has to do is start well and he's pretty won. The opposition crumble.

Also has the best moobs in pro sport. I'd pay him to speak to the Melbourne guys as a motivational speaker/bit of light hearted fun any day.

Is Gareth Bale out of contract and unemployable in his current sport due to onfield knocks and off field media circus? I don't think so.

You are right about Phil Taylor. He is a freak. MVG and Adrian Lewis can score aswell as him but he barely ever misses his checkouts. It is quite unbelievable, especially in big matches at the Worlds, Premier League etc. I know people will laugh off darts but that is serious pressure.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
