GAME DAY

Still get trounced, and convincingly. I'm expecting double the effort the boys put in from last week, so we shud be playing about 40 mins of football then

This is on paper the most balanced team we have fielded with the right mix of talls, inside mids and run. Bail, Jetta and Evans will add plenty of defensive actions and spread even if they are likely to chop the ball up occasionally. Keen to see what Peds and Tapscott have learnt after their demotion. Would love to see Grimes back marshalling off half back and Sylvia given the job on Priddis but doubt it will happen. 5 players with less than 5 games doesn't bode well for victory but today is all about effort and moving forward.

personally I will go out on a limb today and say we will be a lot better. I think we will still loose but west coast is still in bad form. think e will get done by about 30 points

Still in the vicinity of 80 points. Defensive structures, or what is understood of them, will likely fall apart again and heads will drop.

Almost no faith in the coaching at the moment, but if we can see some fight generated by the players I'll be happy. I expected that last week. This week my expectations are nought.

...I'm gonna go sit next to OD.

ok what time does the game start , 2.10 or 3.10 ?????? im hearin both

210 start. Taking my 4 year old to his first game. He will subdue my emotions at the game which is a good thing. Show me something players. I just want effort.

wc beagles are ripe to be beaten today and won't want to take us lightly. must confess to worrying about Neeld controlling this young group. he's a good man and obviously a great bloke but can he coach and get the players up week after week? can he motivate a young group? Hope he can and he proves me wrong. Will gladly accept the wrath of pro- Neeld Demonlanders.

we all want Dees to triumph. I will be watching live from Chiangmai Thailand unless they broadcast the Brisbane game.

Prediction. A figting 4-8 goal loss. A significant improvement but a loss all the same. Cox to dominate.

Have a great day !!

Would like to ad that a LIam Jurrah type would possibly get us over the line today. I miss Liam Jurrah.

howdy cowdy , thanks , this site says 3.10 club site says 2.10 . whats the weather like there , , very stormy , dark , windy and rainy here ( warrnambool ) expect you will cop it later if you havent already , get the ponchos out ,

It's all about the effort. Margin is irrelevant, whether we win, lose by 1 or by 100, whatever. We just need to show a four-quarter effort.

I'm sticking by my call Thursday night that Watts will play.

I am in Sunbury about a hour from the G it's overcast but it's not cold. Could pi55 down at anytime though.

Titan=if we lose by 100 pts then a 4 Q effort is poss?

ok cheers , the rain might be in our favour GO DEES

Fair.

3 quarters, then :P.

We've shown about 5 minutes of effort, in total, across two games so far. I'm looking for prolonged periods of effort/intensity/pressure/just trying. Whatever comes from that will come.

An achievement would be for the team to win a quarter of footy.

Yet to happen this year.

From there they would build some confidence that winning another quarter is possible...

Like our INs, as they'll thrive if it's wet. Bail, Tapscott, Jetta and Evans, all mature, solid and with some leg.

Not beyond us, but we'll need some major performance improvements.

No changes for Melbourne or West Coast. Toumpas (Melb) and Cripps (WCE) are the subs.

I can't help but feel this is a massive game for us!

We get thrashed today and the team will have no confidence - the game against GWS means nothing.

This is doomsday for MFC - make or break!

So Watts isn't playing this weekend? I thought the point of dropping him was to send him back to the twos to gain some confidence and touch. What is the point in dropping him then likely bringing him back in without even playing at Casey? The whole team was rubbish last week, and though he was poor he certainly wasn't the worst. Why was he made a scapegoat?
We have ruined him. Our club has no idea how to develop players.

Sure:) I knew what you're getting at. We are definitely a chance today but will lose between 5-8 goals and will show effort.

Agreed Lord. He would be a star at Carlton. FF for sure. Don't understand. What's to lose leaving him at FF and swapping him around with Clark. Clark would teach him. Absolute disgrace.

The game clashes with the Casey game - it was either he played for Casey or he wasn't an emergency. However there may be a late change.

Someone has to cop it - not everyone can and Watts lacks aggression so I am happy with that. Even leaving him out of the side sends a message

Yeah it sends a message that we have no confidence in him, and he has no opportunity to gain any confidence this weekend.

Shouldn't have been an emergency, should have played for Casey.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
