Jack Trengove's Progress

Not really an ideal scenario for one of our skippers.

Hope the fitness guys can keep him in reasonable shape for the rigours of the season because we need him improving and at his best after an ordinary year on the field from him in 2012.

Would he be missed PF?

Yes like my left [censored].

I would hang onto it Schneider it is more valuable

Where's your Christmas spirit, OD?
Just made a simple observation TF.

Based on his 2012 form would he be missed?

Now 2013 may be a big year for him but when you start preseason training with a foot stress fracture it looks doubtful.

This type of injury often means a season off.

My memory tells me Colin Garland started out this way and he lost a season.

In my wee mind I have him as a scratching for at minimum the first half of 2013.

We have all seen what the lack of a full pre season does to players.

Not expecting much from JT in 2013.

i drank all mine yesterday!
You are lucky I did not get any.

Is there a message there?

There's some merit in what you say but it sounds like the diagnosis and subsequent treatment came early enough to head off the sort of injury that Colin Garland suffered a few years ago.

Based on his 2012 form, I doubt that he would be missed all that much but we will nevethess miss out because Jack is at the stage where, along with several of his teammates, some significant steps forward are expected of him. The lay off is definitely a blow but we do have some good people dealing with strength and conditioning so that even while he's not going full bore on the track, he can still work on maximising his fitness during the recovery period.

I therefore still think he has a significant role to play in the year ahead.

I hope you are right WJ.

Perhaps I am being a little pessimistic but the last 6 years have taught me not to get excited in December.

Come on old dee.....December in the time to get excited.....It's the rest of the year that sucks.....

You are probably correct Bossdog it usually drops in a hole around late Feb!

Trengove needs to hit the gym more anyway.

I see local footballers in better upper body shape than Jack.

It was certainly an area that I noticed, so providing Trengove hits the gym

over the course of his injury - it might actually be benefical that he is hauled up.

Grinch.

Am I wrong ?
not yet you are not.

When has Trengove taken a game by the bells and starred?

Still waiting. Many on here will not like the comment but it is true.

Hope he does it soon.

Am I wrong ?

To quote the Big Lebowski

"No Walter ,you're not wrong ,you're just an [censored]".

I sense a new whipping boy coming up, which is a little peculiar seeing as Trengove isn't a ginger-nut, doesn't have a porn-star style mo, or isn't challenging a stick of celery for the lowest BMI.

Youngest captain in MFC history- obviously was playing under duress last year, which may have contributed to his current injury, loyal as a dog and has never put a foot wrong off field, loves our club and has declared his intent to right this wrong ship yet still some of you have a dig.

Heres a suggestion- go watch some of his junior tapes, recognize that last year was a hiccup- breath- and give the kid a break FFS

not yet you are not.

What's not to like ? You're only stating fact.

That said, I rate him highly and can't believe that so many here don't share my enthusiasm due to a down year. His first two years as a teenager were terrific.

I am just waiting for a solid game. At this stage i believe he is over rated. That is not having a dig.

I am just looking at the games i have seen.

You need to watch more closely, or work on improving your memory.

In late 2011, Trengove stood up in crucial moments, and was solid.

A poor year, whilst enduring an excessive training load, does not define his career to date.

oh really. Thanks for the advice Jose.

Does solid now mean a starring role does it?

Gimme a break.

Late 2011 we beat The Suns at The 'G.

Breathtaking.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
