Pick 88

Apols if this has been dealt with elsewhere but what happened to our pick 88 that we got for Cale? I see in the draft tracker that Richmond had it. Did we trade it?

When we said before the draft 'we have 5 vacancies and will elevate Nicho and Evans with 71 and 72' our Pick 88 ceded to exist and the AFL reordered the draft to reflect that.

It was traded by Port to WC for Lewis Stevenson then back to us for Morton, then you're probably right it got binned.

Essendon picked Sean Gregory with it

It's now an answer to a trivia question at a very poor trivia night.

BUT WE TRADED CALE MORTON FOR IT!!!!!!

And we got Rodan with it...

Actually it's both.

It was traded for Rodan,... I think Port traded it for a player to Westcoast, and they gave it back to us for Morton.

.... we proceeded to bin it

:)

Edit: I am waaaay too slow today guys! sorry.

So in the end a trade for a packet of Twisties would have literally been better value. Lol.

I like Twisties....

(more than Morton anyway)

I like how viney said we traded pick 88 to get rodan because "its a pick we werent planning to use anyway" and then we accepted it back for morton lol

And we got Rodan with it...

Chronologically...

We started with pick 88.

Traded it to Port for Rodan.

Port traded it to West Coast.

West Coast traded it to MFC for Morton.

By virtue o our lack of list space, it ceased to exist for us and all other teams were bumped up a place in the order from pick 89 onwards.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
