Water Under the Bridge - Luke Ball

Have just watched Luke Ball on Before The Game. . How impressive ..Also heard Collingwood supporters nominating his injury as the key difference in their team performance this year. How we were conned into overlooking him I'll never know. Another great recruiting decision under the DB/BP regime. FFS

I put it in the same basket as NikNat, might have been good for us for a year or 2 but would have bailed at first chance.

The real losers here would have to be the saints.

Yes, a masterstroke by the coach of the century (at least seemingly rated as such by some D'landers) R.Lyon

If Ball came to us he would still be suffering from O P.

We wanted him, we just couldn't convince him to choose us as if he did we could have got him in the PSD. He went in the national draft and in the mid 30s ash everyone believed his body was shot.

Sorry, but nobody is ever going to convince me that recruiting him with a high draft pick when he wouldn't undergo a medical and clearly didn't want to play here would have been a responsible recruiting decision.

I agree Nasher and we used the pick so well!

Yes the alternative decision was so productive!!!

You're rewriting history. Ball was interested only in Cwood.

Luke Ball tried really hard to get into the Melbourne Club but the Window was firmly shut.

What's wrong with Tapscott?

You are comparing Luke Ball to Tapscott?

Humorous at best.

Give Tappy time WYL.

He gives me hope and pride in a way no man has moved me since the Great R. Grinter.

it's the injured player theory. The longer the player is out the better he becomes!

Luke Ball said he'd take a year off footy if we nominated him. So he sooner not play at all than play for the Demons in those days.

Im not the hugest fan of the bloke to be honest.

Tappy has a long, long way to go before hitting the heights of R Grinter. You need to get to catch up to an opposition player before you can belt them.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
