GAME DAY - Round 23

Featured Replies

Whats the definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? or watching the demons this season and expecting a win?

He's quick, but I can't see much else to get excited about.

He and Tom McDonald have come from the Cameron Bruce school of kicking and it will severely impact the likelihood of them playing AFL football within a year or two.

He's big and he's quick (one of the quickest in his draft). He's been good at Casey over the past month and he's playing his third career game. He's kicked two from minimal supply.

No one will mention the unevenness of the umpiring in this game because it involves Melbourne, but it has been nothing short of disgraceful. Case in point that free kick against Tapscott.

To be honest Clint I wasn't even bothered by the free against. I just love seeing a player in a MFC jumper with an obvious penchant for hurting people in his quest for the ball. It definitely takes the edge off my frustration.

Supporting Melbourne.

His been ok from the look.

He's run into two open goals (granted it was good effort to get into those positions) but he throws the ball into the air and kicks it like a 10 year old and he can't mark above his head.

Free kicks: Free 25, Melb 12

Neeld football - when it doesn't work, blame the players!

This is the worst and most divisive year I have seen at MFC in 50 years.

Free kicks: Free 25, Melb 12

And Melbourne had a passage where they received about three very soft free kicks to pad out the numbers.

I'm not annoyed from a Melbourne perspective, I'm annoyed that in a national league there can be so much bias in umpiring at certain grounds, even after the media had exposed this.

Yep, it's one ugly kick but he's a work in progress.

I'm not sure the club has time to wait. If his technique is flawed now I doubt he will be able to improve it, thus he will never be able to kick the ball well.

Maclardy needs to step up to the plate, Neeld has been a massive mistake.

There are alot of things wrong with this football team - but the most stark, and the thing I just am not sure yet that Neeld gets, it's the absolutely deplorable disposal and decision making of so many players. We actually don't play that bruise free stuff anymore, partly because there are only about two players when in motion who can actually hit a target in space by hand or foot. I only watched for a couple of quarters but lost count of how many shocking kicks or handballs went to the wrong side of our players or just out of bounds. McDonald, MacDonald, Bail, Frawley, Grimes, McKenzie, Fitzpatrick, Nicholson, Jetta, Garland - all of them have some good attributes but none of them can consistently hit targets!

We can lift our contested possession capabilities all we like over the next couple of years but until we stop having half our team butcher the ball, we'll never get anywhere. Geelong have lost the contested possession count for most of the year but their incredible skill level gets them across the line all the time.

Maclardy needs to step up to the plate, Neeld has been a massive mistake.

Well, that's not going to happen. New coaches need at least two years to make their mark and it's still too early to judge Neeld. This is why coaching appointments are such an important task, as a mistake will set the club back at least a couple of years. I'm not convinced that the right people were in place to make the decision on the last two occasions. But I'll reserve judgement on Neeld until the end of next season.

Raped by umpire 7 then umpire 11 chimed in... Its so F%#c&i@# predictable!!!! Yes we were never going to win... yes they were miles beyond where we are at... yes, we have some duds.... but I want to know where those two umpires come from. The pattern was set at the very first bounce... Jamar was jumped on.... MFC could have had two frees before the one plucked to Freo. And don't get me started on the 50 metre penalties.

Goodnight 2012...see yall next pre season!

Thank heavens that's over.

Number of Freo players to get over 100 supercoach points. = 10

Number of Melb players to get over 100 supercoach points. = 1

well thats f#$%king that ! no doubt that will give %85 on here a bit of pleasure

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
