Jordie McKenzie

I for one could not believe this thread, Jordie is like the rest of the young guys still learning, he is just 22 and has played 58 games, he should peak in about two years, and he is kicking more this season, he has to under Neeld but he also hasn't forgotten how to tackle and get in and under....Jonesy was getting threads like this two years ago, probably from the same people....

Here is a simple plan....to RR, Old Dee etc etc...we have one game to go, when that is finished, stop supporting Melbourne Football Club and find one that has 22 guns and is about to be successful, that way MFC is left to supporters who support..

Christ I have been as frustrated as the next person at times this season. but I have listened to what the Club is saying, and I have asked questions at every opportunity I have had........but I have never and never will bag any player.....I was certainly not good enough to play AFL footy when I was young enough.....how many posters are/were good enough..give them a bloody chance....

the way some posters post you would think that the Club hasn't played finals since the end of the 19th century.....it was six years ago, and then unfortunately everything that could go wrong has......get over it...success is coming.....listen...we are financially sound, have state of the art facilities, good coaching and fitness staff who know what success looks like.......but all that has only happened in the last couple of years, we have had a lot of catching up to do

The last place that will occur is on the footy field, but it will happen

If you not prepared to wait...then go somewhere else

I love the geniuses that write this stuff. How long do you think we should wait?? Isn't 48 years enough for you bud?

It is Footy...nobody dies if you don't win a Premiership.........you get another chance the year after and the year after that.......that is part of the reason for following footy....you don't know what you will get ....... usually occupy my time with it for a few hours on game day and posting on here when the sheer preposterousness of some of the postings dare me to join in...this one being one of them.

I for one have never understood, and you see it on this board, why people who obviously hate everything about a thing, in this case MFC and all it entails......... still rock up each week....is it their latent masochism manifesting itself....if I find myself not enjoying something I don't bother with it...hence I don't watch much telly these days coz in my opinion it is all crap....

That is the point I am making, why put yourself through it.....and why bother posting about it....you only have to post once for most readers to get the gist of your state of mind about MFC.....

Oh and thank you for the acknowledgement, not many people can see genius....they tend to mistake it for insanity...oh and also if you are acknowledging a group of people who in their own right (mind) are considered a genius... it is "genii"

I for one have never understood how team can go 4-18 yet still have people like you who carry on like everything's A-okay.

Do you like being a loser with a fetish for good ordinary footballers?

If you understood the point of his post, you would know he couldn't give a toss either way but will support them because they play for Melbourne, rather than create a storm in a teacup and ride their agenda all the way to market (talk about mixed metaphores).

Yes it's a sorry state of affairs that some of our supporters cop this attitude. It's pizzweak.

I agree with Chook, you need to read it a bit more carefully.

Also think that the 'loser' comment is a bit poor form... even for you RR.

I'm not calling him a 'loser' personally (apologies if it read like that). I'm saying he seems to have no issue with losing.

As Chook says ... he "couldn't give a toss either way".

Get a life. It's a bunch of sweaty men kicking a ball around a field.

If that's your take one can only surmise the reason you stay tuned is because you enjoy watching a "bunch of sweaty men run around" ... ie. you're gay?

All the debate about Jordie's worth misses the point that he is one of the few who apply defensive pressure in a team which is supposed to have this as its mantra. There is also the issue that just about every midfield we have competed agaisnt this year has been better than ours, so it's a neccesity to slow the opposition down.

Can Jordie play two-way footy? He won't last in the side forever if he doesn't. That's really l that needs to be said for now I would have thought.

Get a life. It's a bunch of sweaty men kicking a ball around a field.

Thanks Chook that is what I meant to say, but being Irish/English why use one word when you can use a thousand.....

.I support MFC and I lke watching the footy, and I like the blokes who play for MFC, so I don't like people bagging them that's all....winning is not everything, it's great when it happens, but it's just not at the moment....still go the footy every week hoping we do but if we don't..so what there is next week, next year etc etc.....

He's shown the ability to win contested ball and rack up reasonable numbers of his own whilst shutting down an opponent before. Remember he missed a fair chunk of preseason and is still doing a reasonable job. I expect him to improve next year especially as everyone becomes more familiar with the Neeld plan.

'No' is unfortunately the short and long answer to that question.

I disagree. Whilst I don't think he will ever be a damaging user of the football I see no reason why he can't work off an opponent to win his own ball. I'm super concerned about our lack of top end midfielders and our lack of development of more promising types in that regard but I'm not worried about McKenzie who can clearly perform a role.

Hmm A little frustrated satyricon!

All I have said is Mckenzie is a player with poor disposal and iMO will always be that way.

As a result it limits his contribution

This a forum for people to put their view forward so I will keep giving my view.

As to my finding another club well I have been around for 52 years so I doubt I am going any where soon in spite of the fact you might enjoy my absence.

Death will be the only thing that separates me from the MFC.

I don't mind people putting forward a view/opinion as long as they are able to back it up

As far as enjoying your absence, there are some posters on the board (not necessarily you) who I don't bother reading, coz I know what it will be like, everybody is entitled to post, as well as everybody is entitled to read or not read, so your absence would not mean to much in any case

That was part of the point I was making, you say 52 years, why bother putting yourself through it if it makes you miserable

Also why do you think Jordie's disposal will always be poor? is that by hand or foot? even Chris Judd misses targets extricating from a scrum or maul (as stoppages are starting to look more and more like).

I am not actually frustrated, I would say more bored with the constant negativity being displayed on this board, it sort of ruins the whole experience, everybody knows we have had a crap season why bang on about it, look forward to a fresh start next year......personally I am going to the B & F to congratulate all the players (including Jordie) for hanging in there, also telling them I expect better next year...and to congratulate Jonesy on the award......and then remind people who wanted him delisted two years ago...they were wrong...same as they will be with Jordie Mc

You are entitled to to your view I don't agree with some of it on this occasion but that is life.

I go to most games every year and believe me I enjoy a fair percentage of them

This year has been the worst for a considerable period of time in that you know that in 80% of the games it will be well and truely over by half time.

So you concentrate on watching certain players .

I have watched JM on a number of occasions and that is where my opinion stems from.

The result is I think I have an idea that we have a poor list now JM is far from the worst

We need to change over a lot of the list over the next 3 years Jm will not be one of them but that does not make him much more than an average player

My question to you is have you enjoyed watching the Dees through out 2012?

Edited by old dee

My question to you is have you enjoyed watching the Dees through out 2012?

I'm getting ready to be slammed with this answer as there is no black and white/ yes or no for me. So here goes.

Do I hate losing ? You bet. Will I give constructive criticism on the team, administration and coaches when I see something that in my opinion warrants it ? You bet.

Overall I have not enjoyed watching us this year but nearly every game I find something to bring to a smile to my face and get me excited even for a fleeting moment. A Howe mark, Jones hitting a pack at full pace, some Tommy Mc moments or some minutes of what looks like coherent football.I love watching those duds just run out on the ground (sometimes thats the only enjoyment for the match). I need to enjoy something or I would stop going.

Now before I am knived - I am not satisfied nor content with what we are showing - but if I didnt find something each week to bring a tiny bit of joy then I couldnt back up the next week.

Let the lynching commence.

I think I agree with you most of what you say above nutbean.

That is were I am coming from.

I do much the same

You concentrate on certain players.

you have to or you'd slash your wrists

Jordie or any other tagger won't play when we have an elite group of midfielders. The pies don't tag they get tagged. It's not his fault the rest of the midfield group are outclassed every week.

And what century will that be? How about we get at least one elite mid first before we even look at Jordie's role or place in the side.

If that's your take one can only surmise the reason you stay tuned is because you enjoy watching a "bunch of sweaty men run around" ... ie. you're gay?

Would it be a problem to you if I were?

No. But being motivated to watch footy solely owing to your sexual voyeurism seems a tad shallow to me.

damn glad I have never owned up to watching Lingerie football league (once...ok...twice....damn it ...tape it every time and watching it on endless loop..)

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
