Game night thread: Melbourne v Hawthorn

Nope

Do you think they'll let us play the even up rule?

2 wrong holding the ball decisions 2 goals to Hawthorn. Umpires making this hard to watch

I don't understand the game anymore

I know we are going to lose.

I know they are going to have 200 more positions than us

I understand!

I am so proud of how we've attacked this game, and can't work out why EVERY decision goes against us.

if we have the ball and it's 50 50, it's holding the ball.

if they have the ball and it's 50 50, it's ball up.

IDENTICAL decision paid differently, FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa rk

I don't like blaming umpiring, but this is the worst I have everseen!

Also Sylvia and petterd cannot find the pill!

Because he clearly has been our worst thus far

It's Garland who needs a slap!!!

Agree with the first part, disagree with the second. One brain fade by Garland in an otherwise solid performance so far.

Petterd has done nothing, Sylvia has done very little.

Forget it the AFL want us out of the competition like they did with Fitzroy. You only have to look at the umpiring in the last quarter to realise that. I know the signs because i'm ex Fitzroy.

I can't fathom how we can have 100 less possessions already. I know it's against Hawthorn but seriously?

No, we want ourselves out of the competition collecting 100 less possessions in half than our opponent.

Halftime: Haw 8.12.60 Melb 3.5.20

Hawks have 12 players with 10+ disposals to Melb's 1 (Garland)

Hawks have 115 more disposals than us which must be close to a record in a half of footy.

4 first half possies from the talented "game-breaker" Sylvia. Refer to my sig.

Petterd the rare honour of a full first half set of donuts in all stat categories

Mate how many possibilities have there been for Sylvia and Petterd to influence the contest?

When you lose every friggin stoppage and hardly touch the ball through the middle and the backline it's pretty hard for forwards to "do much"...

Petterd clearly didn't get the kick up the ass required during his stint at Casey, well back you go son (hate to say it).

Jeremy Howe seriously needs to work on his set shots.

Ricky has not touched the ball, get him off and get bate on now.

Why can't we get the ball? I just dont understand......

Awful.

Game over!!

I am now 100% convinced the captaincy burden has seriously stunted the growth of Jack Trengove.

Garland very stupid to take on Rioli.

Morton gave away 2 goals that quarter with more stupidity.

We really are a very very sad side.

Brainfades that costly warrant a slap in my opinion. Not a malicious slap, but a switch-the-eff-on slap.

Extremely disappointing quarter. The umpires had nothing to do with our complete drop in intensity. So once again, is it a fitness issue?? Between the ears maybe?

It's almost like at every break the players hear 'Great quarter, we are still in this, now go and play your old structure to show just how crap it is compared to how that went'

franklin in starting to carve frawley up, get someone else on him

No, just too much ball in their forward half. He is doing ok in the circumstances.

The application is there. We just gotta believe in Neil Craig & Neeld.

Hawthorn were knackered at half time. Just keep up the intensity boys. LEARN.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?
