Poor dumb Kenny Buzzins .

No we are not surprised, but he is definitely not "dumb", but rather messed up as are most people with drug related issues. A little compassion wouldn't go astray (although if the sell and supply charges stick, I might reassess that).

In his defence the tablets could have just been for personal consumption, however the law draws the line at 2 grams

"The report said Cousins was strip searched by officers at around 7.30pm last night, who found methamphetamine and other identified tablets.

WA law states that anyone in possession of more than two grams of the drug be charged with intent to sell or supply.

The former West Coast, was said to have been charged with possession of an illegal drug. He was due in court next week in Kalgoorlie, after being released on bail."

Poor Benny will "dabble' within the drug culture until he dies.....You do not take his dosages and just become clean..

He know longer has football as his outlet....Benny needs to get on the counciling/speaking circut, or something of that ilk to keep him focused.

Otherwise he will go the way of Captain Mainwarring.

He needs focus in his life. Usually having a kid provides that focus, but it seems this isn't the case here. Feel bad for him, drug habits are hard to kick but it can be done. Hopefully he can kick his too before it ruins the rest of his life.

Lol Biffen do you think an addict cares about the public's perception of them? They have a problem and they need help- not judgement from forum heroes such as yourself.

Definitely not smart either . Never met a speed freak with a half a brain .Staying involved with that drug when the whole country knows you are an addict is pretty dumb Hardtack .Let alone "allegedly" making a living with it .

Speed has that affect, yes... but as they say, once an addict, always an addict... the hard part is staying clean regardless of what your celebrity status may be. But I do have a problem with the sell/supply part if proven true.

I think hardtack that Ben has had a very large amount of compassion over the last few years.

I have a couple of people close to me who have suffered drug addiction.

Their problem has been an on going thing for 10+ years

there is no easy out for most people.

One has been clean for 2 years now and the other has recently been released from Jail.

He has stated "this will probably kill me in the next few years".

Both of their lives have been ruined.

They have made their parents lives and numerous others ( wife and children in one case ) lives a absolute misery.

After 10 years I now struggle with compassion.

I understand what you are saying OD, but by the same token, I don't think much is to be gained by putting the boot into a person when they are down and almost out.

No you are probably right.

I just struggle with the problem these days.

To be honest I am worn out by the problem

How did Ben's problem start?

Was it being homeless and alone?

Was it the abusive parents that drove him to drugs?

Was it the hard life, working in a factory all day, struggling to make ends meet?

Was it...

Hang on, he's had a privaliged life, good parents, money, physically gifted and a dream career.

His 'problem' is that he's a party boy. He likes to party and do drugs.

If anyone thinks that's a problem worthy of sympathy, well maybe you need to meet some people with real problems.

Agreed Old dee.

The choice to dabble in hard drugs is one made by the individual. Its well documented that these substances have seriosus side effects. If the persons initial decision to try drugs ends up ruining their life, then they only have them selves to blame.

People get all sympathetic with cousins' situation because he's a high profile sportsman. I dont see the same amount fo compasssion offered to the drug addicts that cant afford to pay for their habbits, who cause a great deal of crime in society. Even still, out of all of the groups in our society that deserve our support, time and effort, i think Drug Addicts get a better run than they deserve. Yes we should help them, but its not wrong to call them dumb for the decisions that they have made.

An addict is an addict regardless of their background and at the end of the day their lives are in turmoil. Obviously some of you people who have no sympathy because of Ben's background have never had any experience with drugs or addicts and how it their lives. Maybe you should just stay safe in your care free lives with your slipers and your cups of tea and rainbows and not be so quick to judge others?

The chemical make up of an addict actually changes...In no way do i advocate serious long term drug use, but i can understand that sometimes people just cannot get clean, even if they want to,

I'm not judging anyone, I just have no sympathy for him. He brought it on himself.

As for me, I wish kicking a drug addiction was my biggest problem.

I've been around drugs my whole life, I hang around with musicians.

One of my closest friends is a recovering addict.

6 years ago I was watching us get destroyed by St Kilda when I got a text message telling me my best friend was dead from an overdose. She was 24. I loved her, still do, but I she and I knew it was her own stupid fault for getting into it.

I understand drug culture, I have no sympathy for those who create their own problems.

Quite right Sloonie . Him and his gangster mates need help .I'm very aware of addiction and it's effects on the brain and body .

I realise it's a physical addiction and not just a choice .Given that he has probably had more help and more sympathy than any other addict in the country I say he is a fool and a time waster. Given that he has lived of a rock star since he was 17 and had tremendous support from people all over the country then I say he just continues to sh!T on those who have tried helping him .

Having had a kid recently makes it worse .I dont have sympathy for addicts at all -it's the last thing they need .If he was intending to deal I sincerely hope he does time and does it tough .You cant just keep giving an addict a blanket and a hug. He needs NA pure and simple .

As for forum heroics ,I'll leave it to you .

Poor, dumb, exceptionally talented and attractive Benny.

He had everything, fame, money, success, perfect facial and abdominal features, and he threw it all away because he couldn't kick the drug habit.

I don't feel sorry for him anymore, I feel sorry for his family and mostly his kid, because that kid won't have a father for very long if Cousins continues to behave like an irresponsible superstar.

Yes Benny has bought this on himself, for that i have no sympathy at all...he chose to intake the first time.

What i hate is the way this country allowed him to flaunt it...the worst thing that could have happened..

He should never have been allowed to make that documentary, even if he thought it was the right thing to do...

Ben needs to go to NA meetings in a different country....if he wishes to live beyond 50.

We are getting into unfootbally areas but society breaks down when you fail to take responsibility for yourself and your actions. So yes Ben Cousin's has been an idiot. Ben Cousins has had the opportunity to decide whether he wants to continue to be an idiot, or whether he thinks it's time to stop being an idiot.

It's his choice to make, it's just sad that his choices affect more than just himself, and that is the greatest tragedy of addiction.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
