Hawthorn v Melbourne: NAB Cup 3

No news about Magner yet.

Sewell linging up for the first goal of the 2nd quarter

and he goals Hawthorn 7. 2. 44 MFC 2. 3 15

Hodge falls over gets gifted another (he would've kicked it anyway but still).

This is why I hate Hawthorn - they cheat when they don't have to cos they're good enough already. It's only pre-season so I don't really care but if this was the real thing I would be going ape droppings.

Meanwhile Davey misses an absolute sitter.

We should put Trengove on Hodge and just tell him to follow him around the park. Get something out of this game and tell Trengove "this is how we want you to play".

Cant stop hale, hawks with buddyand roughy will be hard to stop

We always get Bullied by this dam team....has gone on for 40 years..

Well at least we know we still have lots of work ahead of us.

A bit of a reality check after a win against a bunch of boys last week. We are a million miles away from being anything

Yeah, that's good to know. I had us pinned for the flag until this.

Wooden spoon certainties for sure.

Howe about that , tackle , free , clarke marks and kicks

Free to jamar, hawk player played on , 50m where art thou?

Wooden spoon certainties for sure.

Never said that, but the 8 is a very long shot

The Hawks kicking skills are just awesome. I don't understand how we can't find players that are as hard as the Hawks' players are, yet can still kick the ball accurately over long distances.

We only play this lot once in the H/W season. Just a good learning curve, they will be fine once the real stuff starts.

Any judgement you make on the pre-season cup is premature. Whether it's outrageous or something semi-reasonable, if your basis is any pre-season match, it's wrong.

A Mod on a power trip..... now there's something new.

Aren't we allowed any opinions anymore?

This team of absolute [censored], have had the wood over us for years. Not just because they are supremely talented, but also because they treat us with such contempt and we let them. They know they can throw us around and take the [censored] and they do.

All I want in the second half is to see us stand up and dish out some tough treatment. Not stupid punches to the head like Sylvia's heroic moment, but really hurt them in tackles, and make them realise that we aren't their [censored].

For now they are miles better than us, and maybe that will never change, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't expect to leave the ground sore and bruised. If we turn this into a hard slog, as opposed to an easy victory, I'll be happy.

And all the sweeter when we beat them. Remember Geelong had it all over the Hawks until the game that really matters.

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
