Stan Alves was the one. Bluey Adams came 23rd. 7th was a Cordner, but which one?

Well Don won one, but I'm guessing Dennis polled more over his career ?

Nice quiz there bobby .

Ivor Warne-Smith played his 9th game for our Club at the age of 27 ! He amassed 25 B.O.G's in the Brownlow when only 1 vote was cast per match to the best player .

He also served at Gallipoli and the Western front in WW1 as well as the Middle East , New Guinea and Borneo in WW2 .

He was Captain Coach of the Club from 1928 to 1932 and was Chairman of selectors from 1949 . He was said to be Norm Smith's closest advisor .

Ivor was also a regular football writer for the "Argus" .

Of course he won 2 Brownlows ( 1926 and 1928 ) and was also runner up in 1929 . He was named at Centre Half Forward in Melbourne's Team of the century .

He was known as quiet and unassuming but what a life this man had !

Correct. It was Denis. 93 votes.Number 8 recently retired captain and big goal kicker. Number 9 Lost some fingers in a mill accident. Number 10 would have won many more if he hadn't backchatted the umpire so much.

Well 8 would have to be Neita

Would 9 be ? "3 fingers" Dooley Mueller I think a FF in the 40s

10 wouldn't be the Ox I suppose

i think the backchatter @ no. 10 would have to be the great RDB.. still giving lip (and a little bit more) to people who deserve it to this very day, as per events of last NYE show

Thanks for those facts 'Macca'. I had Ivor credited with 66 Brownlow votes. Not sure when the one vote system was abolished. If he did achieve 25 one vote BOGs as you state then his tally would be 25x 3= 75. That would place him ahead of Mueller and Barassi on my list. All very confusing isn't it?

Who is going to bankroll the admission in 2013? Not you I hope Bobby?

Thanks Bobby Mc. Always like a bit of trivia.

But relevant to today, 25 votes for Sylvia is a very poor return for a player of his talent who plays a fair bit on ball. It's now a midfielders medal, so he should be doing better than that. I'd like to see him double that total in one year. In fact, if he doubles it in the next two, I'd be happy.

Yeah , and you would have thought Ivor Warne Smith would have received his fair share of 2nd and 3rd B.O.G's as well . Virtually impossible to figure out . At a guess he might have got a total of around 120 votes , maybe more . That's giving him 15 x 2 and 15 x 1 . Anyway , interesting exercise bobby .

If you count BOG's from 1924-1930 (when they only did one vote) as three then Warne-Smith got 78 in total. He had 75 in that era and three votes total in 1931.

Also while Greg Wells is credited with 127 votes it comes with a disclaimer as the year he joined Carlton midway through they still didn't announce who got votes for which game so some may have come for Carlton. Either way he's well clear from 1st and 3rd so it wouldn't make a difference.

The next highest MFC vote getters to have played for two teams in one season in the mystery votes era are Michael Byrne and Ray Smith (5)

Now there is one for the trivia buffs out there...two teams in the one season.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
