I attended the majority of games in 1997, but they've all kinda blurred into one big loss. The first I can remember well was Round 8, 1998 when we beat the filth by 3 points. After seeing a game like that one it would be impossible not to become a Demon fan for life.

The year was 1991. Melbourne was due for a big season and Jim Stynes hadn't yet taken great strides towards his Browlow form.

Come round 4, in a game against the Blue Baggers. My father had promised his 8 y/o To go to the football to watch his beloved Demons.

My memories fail me a little, but it wasn't a great day weather wise but most likely better than most at Arctic Park.

All I remember is Big Strabs getting injured and Jimma ripping it up against Harry Madden in a superb performance.

And my best memory was Melbourne fans going crazy as we kicked 11 goals to 2 in the final quarter from being behind at te last quarter.

Man, sometimes I miss Waverley Park. So easy for a Gippslander to get to!

For me it was Anzac Day sometime in the mid 60s. Took a trip from Sale to the Big Smoke with the old man. Don't remember who we played. But, do remember being upset that, it being Anzac day, there was no Reserves game before the main game!

We did have a few memorable wins there , but other than that , yours is just about the only other reason to miss it .

That pub Robbie, was it Young & Jackson's, the Graham or the Cathedral?

Pretty sure it was the Graham, between Bourke and Little Collins on the west side of the street.

It certainly wasn't Y & J's and not the Cathedral.

Whilst he was a ball magnet with superior marking ability his tumbly short punts often caused the fans to groan !

He had one of the worst kicking actions I've ever seen. Long arms great mark and quite tall for a wingman in those days.

The first VFL/AFL Melbourne game i first attended was Round 1,2002- Melbourne Vs Hawthorn. Stephen Powell was launching bombs from 50, and David Neitz kicked an inspiring team lifting goal at the punt road end, In the process laying a big bump on a Hawthorn defender to spin around and kick it.

Pretty good introduction for you, that game. I was there and came straight from the Mercy for Women to see it (my first child was born two days earlier).

A memorable time those few days.

Luke McCabe's name was virtually etched in stone that day.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
