The Sheedy Conspiracy

I think Melbourne played this very well, while we didn't retain Tom, we made sure they paid well above what they initially were offering (if you believe the rumours). This means we get two early picks and GWS are going to be short on slaary cap space in a few years time, just when they hope to be succesful (and Melbourne will be). So if Sheedy was targetting us he didn't get it all his way.

"Also why did we not take him?Even if he had been as unsuccessful as Bailey(doubtful),Melbourne supporters would have much more content in the knowledge Melbourne picked the best available coach at the time.If not he was a lot better canditate than Bailey and retrospect is not needed for that. ."

Disagree with this. I don't see Bailey as a failure. Right man at the right time IMO. If Sheeds had got the job I believe our list would still be a mess. Our older players simply aren't up to it and Sheeds would've held on to them for longer and we wouldn't have had such good draft picks.

He would've recruited Kevin Walsh, Dean Wallis and Aaron Henneman.

Martin, murphy, kreuzer and Natanui were not offered comparable deals ie 2 million first up,Thomas is palying in premierships and so is swan.Scully was always going to be thrown the most money.Get your facts right.

Really. Go ahead and tell me what the real facts are then. Tell me exactly how much those players were offered and who your source of said information was.

Please don't say a newspaper.

I have no doubt sheeds hates the MFC because we oveeerlooked him. But who cares?? Bails did a heap of hard work that sheeds would never done. Imagine the mess we would be in now with nut bag Kevin at the helm!! Kudos to the Gardiner board & Bails for taking the heat. Sheeds can say or think whatever he likes. We will be fine.

Because Tom Scully is a star in the making. If he stays fit, he could become a great of the game.

This just goes to show how senile and idiotic Sheedy is. He has let his emotions get the better of him. He's gone out and recruited a fella that is only a few years away from being a pensioner (Jnr was finished as an AFL footballer and the game clearly passed him by, in fact he played beyond his years), and he's gone and "stolen" $cully as revenge as well. A fella who has an extremely suss knee (and will do for the rest of his career), a fella whose kicking is sub-AFL standard, and whose handballing, whilst quick, is so erratic, that every 3rd handball disadvantages his team.

Let the old fool wallow in his own self-adoration. How soon will GWS realise that Sheedy is actually a cancer on a footy club? hopefully they find out after it's too late.

I'm not convinced. Time will tell. ATM I think he is overrated, partly and psychologically due to his draft status

I think he has a few inherent weaknesses in his game (no doubting his strengths though)

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
