Record sponsorship deal coming

Featured Replies

It ought to be Metro...about as consitent with their trains as we are with our footy !!

I'm concerned that Lawrie De La Rue may be lost to the club as they appear to be talking through Lawyers and they have ceased direct communications.

There are always reasons why companies cease sponsorship; it may be lack of funds, change of direction or simply the company ceases to operate, so i'm fully aware that you need to revisit this all I'm concerned with is the animosity that has arisen out of this sponsorship.

I think this is a fair call.

I have a feeling he has withdrawn sponsorship before in a funk in the 80s or 90s

Certainly the reasons advanced sound more convenient rather than serious grounds to terminate a sponsorship. There is no doubt that the White with Black Font Hankook Logo stands out on our jumper more than most in the League.

But I guess it is all Cameron Schwab's fault!

Is it preposterous to suggest that a brand which has just been re-established and uses the name 'Melbourne' in its title might see synergistic value worth pursuing?

So, Bank of Melbourne, come on down!

And if I'm wrong, it doesn't stop MFC still pursuing Bank of Melbourne for sponsorship. There's always room for more.

It is poor that we are losing a long standing sponsor. And there is more to it than meets the eye as usual. Sponsors are treated very poorly.

Schwab spends all his time sniffing linament instead of schmoozing sponsors and their clients. I have seen him on match days doing everything but making sponsors and their clients have a special day. LIke ot or not, its one of his main jobs. But he is more interested in running the footy dept.

Why do you make statements about things you don't know about? Do you work at the club and know what Schwab gets up to?

Nice one, mate. Can't you read?

I said I have seen him. And on more than one occasion.

Not a bad call. I read that they are targeting 30 something year old women from the eastern suburbs, perfect fit. Would there be a conflict seeing as the parent company in Westpac sponsor the filth?

What did you sit behind him at the footy?

Were you standing in the corner at a function watching him?

Does he even know you are?

You based your last character assassination of him on a hunch.

If you could provide some detail on how you know these things I'd be more inclined to take them on board.

I understand the New sponsor is Bank Of Melbourne and apparently Schwaby is responsible for negiotating with them the $ value is huge if correct he should be congratulated for this we need all the positive News at the Moment apparently Tom Scully was to be part of the Deal

Now this maybe the start of Better things along with Vineys performance last Saturday lets hope so

A friend of mine is a social media coordinator, worked alongside Westpac Group in the relaunch of Bank Of Melbourne. Wouldn't be straight up, but wouldn't deny that the bank will be major sponsor of the club next year.

Stay tuned.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
