It's funny I always though gout was caused by grog but my old man has been off this [censored] for 10 years and still gets it.

one thing I know for sure; take the recommended dose of the medication. My father in law nailed as many pills as he could to mitigate against the pain and ended up with a urinary tract infection. Not pleasant!

If you have some prejudice against bananas R and B ether 'fess up and leave this thread or hold your piece.

Nothing wrong with bananas. Had a couple today. One has to treat them with respect though ...

Gout and Potassium

Potassium is a must in your gout diet

Potassium is an electrolyte that is found in water and many different foods in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, milk and beans. Fruits that are high in potassium, 200 milligrams or more are avocados, bananas, apricots, cantaloupes, dates, figs, kiwis, mangos and oranges. Veggies that are high in potassium are artichokes, squash, beets, carrots, beans, peas, potatoes and tomatoes. Other foods that are high in potassium are cocoa, granola, bran, milk, nuts, seeds and yogurt.

What's going on  Frogger? The last I heard you were posted to some remote outpost that relied on the telegraph.

Now you're back to annoy with your alien Westralian ways.

The NBN telegraph is still some years away, but we are so looking forward to being able to watch moving pictures when in arrives in town soon.

Hopefully not for the next 10 years Toady. My doc tells me not to go through that again. My wine collection took a reckless hammering

Some good times this season though (as well as some !$^@ ones). But why are we talking footy on this thread?

Had any good bananas lately?

Going shopping tomorrow, which should take around 4 hours travelling time. Hope they have fresh bananas!

Plus I closed down the local pub, so don't tell BBO as this fact will likely upset him for some reason. But must now travel for a drink.

Closing down the local pub won't win many friends (except perhaps the missus). BBO probably finds this unthinkable anyway.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
