I think you will hear plenty on the MFc in the next 2 months, some good and some bad.

I can wish but I know It will not happen.

The wish is a bit like wishing for a winning season in 2012.

A nice wish but not very likely.

What do you mean "believe in Santa Clause"

You mean someone doesn't!

Seriously the Easter bunny might be better timing!

Is it just me?

The season feels over to me.

I have little interest in what happens next sunday.

however I am very keen to see the Casey game on Saturday.

Thinking seriously of going on Saturday versus watching on TV.

No it's not. I feel the same.

I'll be happy to see the back of the season, but will be interested to see the mindset of the players against Port.

Port showed against the Bombers they don't want the wooden spoon..........will we meekly roll over for them, or actually show enough self respect and pride to win a game we should?

No it's not. I feel the same.

Ditto, but I will follow the off-season developments with great interest. If we can get the critical decisions right, we could be back on track as early as 2012.

I'll be there on Sunday, which gives me the pleasure of farewelling this horrible season in person! (Hopefully with a smile on the face)

The fact the final game is in Adelaide and not at the MCG, exacerbates the apathy.

Not sure what the players would even get out of this match in terms of development, with such lacklustre competition.

Theoretically it'd be good to have the tiniest of springboards going into the 2012 season, by finishing on 2 straight wins... But I don't think it'll make much difference, and even if we are to lose, at least it means moving up a couple of spots in the draft order (the smallest of silver linings).

The players might enjoy being the first team to play a game for four points on the Adelaide oval. It is very scenic.

Let us know what you think of the Oval and it's surrounds 45 on return. I'd be interested in your thoughts. I have toured the ground with a tour by SACA staff including the scoreboard. I think it's a fantastic cricket ground. And one hell of a scoreboard. Unfortunately I'll miss the game and will be in Sydney for work committments and won't get to see it until the weekend after thanks to IQ, unless they have it on somewhere on the Sunday somewhere around the Darling Harbour precinct. Anyone ?

Might have to get the work done asap and head to Star City...

Stay out of there or you may not have the fare to get back home.

Absolutely, this season is well and truly shot!

I feel on past efforts this year that Port will roll us over and use us for a bicycle stand!

Looking forward to the off season though, should be enough action to keep us interested over summer!

B Fuct!

I think I have managed my expectations, they have just proved to be wrong. I thought we would be more competitive when losing, wrong. I thought we would develop a modern gameplan, wrong. I thought more individual players would improve than have improved, for example Gysberts, Grimes, Scully, Petterd, Dunn, Jurrah, Aussie, Bennell, etc, wrong. I know Watts and Martin have been improvers but they are in general in the minority. I also know Grimes was injured but he wasn't playing that well before he got injured, especially in regards to his disposal. I thought Cook would do better at Casey than he has and yes I know he is skinny and young but I wasn't expecting Carey, wrong. I thought we would go into a game against the Suns on the G as absolute certainties, wrong. I thought things were going well off the field and that everyone was focussed and pulling together, wrong. I thought we would finish just inside or outside the eight, wrong. I thought a couple of weeks ago that we would finish with 10.5 wins, wrong. Heaven forbid it could be 7.5 wins and that wouldn't shock me. I didn't think I would ever go to Skilled stadium again and I did and I sat through every second of the game and aslo half the Casey game and I won't ever go back, wrong. I thought we would end the season with me feeling optimistic and I don't at the moment, wrong. I never thought that I would be watching the season be hindered by the possible loss of our priority draft pick, who we suffered so much to get and then end up not caring either way as a cracked patella surfaced, wrong. I never thought that the whole football community would condemn our leadership group and rightly so, wrong. I will stop there as I could go on a lot longer.

I understand that one needs to be realistic with an assessment of where we are at but I look at Carlton and note they were last in 2007 yet this will be their third finals in a row, West Coast were last in 2010 and look at them and Essendon who are not great and have a stack of injuries will play finals. Yes you can say that at West Coast the leaders stood up but it is more than that, they play as a disciplined team to a game plan. I understand the need for patience and you know Fan that I have been patient, but after 47 years it is wearing thin. Still as they say in the classics, there is always next year and the next.

Trouble with blokes like you is the glass is always half empty.

Hope it doesn't rain too much for you in Queensland.

What a hole!

or you'll be able to go home in real style!

Only two posts on this thread today, and 25 and climbing on the other one, so I thought I should do my bit to revive our flagging spirits with this little gem that I heard the other day:

It seems that a new disease has been diagnosed in the US called 'Electile Dysfunction'. It's symtoms are the inability to become aroused over any of the potential Presidential candidates (Democrat or Republicans) for next year's election.

A bit like the Dees 2011 season in a way ..... not a whole lot to get aroused about.

Pretty [censored] off. I am in Queensland and there is no live broadcast of our game anywhere. Not foxtel nor free to air. Every other game on the weekend is being shown. Replay on foxtel at 8.30 but that is not satisfactory. I thought all games were shown either on free to air or foxtel throughout the AFL states. Not happy Jan.

I have a brother and a couple of friends who live in SEQ all of whom are AFL fans and x Victorians.

They have all been telling this same story for some time RL.

If it is not a Brisbane game forget it you will not see it live.

Fortunately this will be the last time you have this problem as all games will be live on Foxtel in 2012.

How is the weather? pissing down last I heard.

Lovely sunny 18 here

In future I recommend that you holiday in Rooty Hill.

I can fix you up on a $5:00 per night plan in a room that gets fumigated twice a day for cockroaches and other vermin.

I hear that the natives up there are really into AFL and all eight games are replayed on rotation on the local free to air station.

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
